Other than a slight dip in MIL power at 5,000ft the Mosquito is improved in every way.  The guns are exactly the same, except they are attached to a much better shooting platform.

This is not entirely correct.

The new Mosquito's performance at military power has decreased noticeably. This affects speed to different degrees at various altitudes (see my post here: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,288911.msg3671722.html#msg3671722) but also acceleration and climbrates. Both are roughly 10% lower than before. Granted, as long as you have WEP time, there will be no worries, but when you are stuck with military power, it may become an issue, mainly the acceleration.

In general terms, WEP management on the Mossie is now more important than ever and clearly a decisive factor.

Some British aircraft seem to rely on WEP a lot more than most aircraft.  I think the Brits had lower continuous or long use boost settings than did most aircraft.  The Mossie VI's 1 hour boost is +9lbs compared to WEP's +18lbs.  I don't think the P-51 doubles its boost when it goes to WEP, but I don't know the direct translation between US and UK boost ratings either, so I could be wrong.

I like it.....first kill of the udate for me was mossie against mossie!

obviously whoever it was didnt fly the mossie that much, because the had no idea how to maintain e and the kill was fairly easy.

As a rook we get alot of 20+ eny, so the mossie is a staple.

First sortie first kill was a 262   :rock

Ya that was me still wondering who that other 262 was Clone that wouldn't fight me and he had the advantage to begin with.  Made me run him 2 sectors to get shot down from your Mossie.  I was just aggravated, got to learn not to get that way  :D

Who was the other 262 Clone?

Also I flew the Mossie yesterday and fought a 38 with 1 engine after I had already killed 3 and made the 38 auger before having to ditch, my thoughts are that this plane will be used quite frequently and become a powerful asset to the set.   :salute HTC nice job

I would guess the Mossies were the same as the Spits / Hurris etc.
The 5 min hard limit in AH was IRL an 'advisory' limit.
After exceeding 5 mins WEP the pilots had to inform the techies so extra checks could be carried out.
I have yet to find an account of any Spit suffering engine damage or failure from exceeding the 5 mins advisory.
In one famous case a Spit pilot flew for OVER 30 MINs with WEP while evading the bad guys.

All due to Rolls Royce testing methods -
i) Take engine off the production line
ii) Run it to failure
iii) Find part that failed
iv) Redesign / strengthen part
v) incorporate into production engines
vi) Goto i)

They also tested a Merlin 130 at over 2600HP at their Derby works.
