Why hell f4us auto-take-off procedure is changed (default 2 notches of flaps down)?

F4Us are carrier based planes. Taking off from a CV with a heavy ord and or fuel load requires flaps. I guess HTC is trying to do a favor for some of the players that didn't know that already.

I remember seeing someones film of whole squadrons of F4-u's going lemmings off the end of a CV in FSO. I cant remember for sure but I think it was Krusty's film.

I gotta say thanks !!

When lifting from a turning Cv heavy with Ord I drop my flaps as far as they will go and use my rudder to turn until off the deck. Then raise them accordingly. Even with 2 knothces I would probably still hit the water unless I wep it up but shoot if thats what they did then thank you HTC. Save us the trouble.

I personally prefer to run the first few seconds down the deck without flaps in order to get a couple more MPH before popping them toward the end.  The difference is probably minimal, (never tested it, to be honest) but I'll use any extra speed I can get.

Although, after the update, if you forgot they were deployed by default and take off from an airbase ( don't use flaps ) and don't realize your flaps are down until you travel 2 sectors - maybe you were out having a smoke and enjoying a beer - on auto climb, does that make you a noob?   :headscratch:

Using auto takeoff in a Hog is sacrilege.
