A6M5c and A6M7

I realize there is quite a healthy list of Japanese aircraft that should be added before more models of the Zeke. However at some point I'd like to see consideration given to the A6M5c model 52c and possibly the A6M7 model 63. I'm not sure on the production numbers though. I was wondering Karnak or Krusty would have any info on these two aircraft?

wasnt the A6M7 not used during the war? i'm pretty sure the A6M6 didn't see action either. but i'm all for the 5c

Anything past the A6M5c never got past prototypes from what I've read, and the A6M5c itself seems to have been very scarce. I'd imagine it'd just be a weighted down A6M anyways. The A6M3 22 or 32 on the other hand would make a great addition IMO.

I'm pretty sure I read that the A6M6 DID indeed get deployed to operational squadrons. I just can't find anything on the numbers.

The A6M7 and 8 definitely didn't.

The A6M3 carried the same 20mm cannon as the A6M2. Only a handful were converted for evaluation purposes, but this armament was never utilized operationally.

I seem to have misplaced the website, but I believe it said something about the Mitsubishi A6M5b's being converted into A6M6s and that there were very few produced A6M6 models but quite a few modified from the A6M5

Not exactly. From what I recall the A6M3 switched over to a belt-fed Type 99 instead of the old style drum-fed magazine of the A6M2 which upped the rounds per gun. I even think I recall some extremely late model A6M3s being fitted with the same belt-fed Type 99 our A6M5b uses.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the A6M8? That one DID have only the two prototypes completed in April of 1945, but was canceled due to the state of Japan's industry by that point in the war. The A6M6 Model 53 was more or less an A6M5 with an uprated engine adding water-methanol injection and the addition of self-sealing fuel tanks in the wing.
