Russian solution to oil spill
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:37:37 AM »
http://english.ruvr.ru/rtvideo/2010/05/05/video_7322094.html

This story was in news over the weekend, i didn't know nuclear devices were ever used for "peaceful"purpose, but russians are suggesting it may be the only way the stop the oil spill in Gulf of Mexico.I was thinking it may be used to close the volcano in Iceland also, or make it bigger, lol.

Burning for three years-----WOW!

I am not all to sure about the idea the Russians have.  How big dose the nuclear bomb have to be to have the affect?  And, could the detonation effect other oil rigs in the area?

As far-fetched as the plan goes, it actually sounds quite logical.
Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

I think BP would rather funnel their oil ($$$$$$) out with a hose.

The less elegant alternative is pumping EX down a slant drilled hole and lighting that, but certainly no way to gurantee uniformity. Oddly, the soviets got it right on this one. ESP at those pressures and depth.

There's a coal fire that's been burning under Centralia, Pennsylvania since 1962.

How are you going to deliver a nuke to a point more than a mile under water? How will you protect the Gulf communities from the tsunami event that may follow?  :huh

Been there many times going to Penn State football games......... a bit unnerving when you drive through something like that.
