Wrong again.
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,283978.0.html

Here's a clue, we're discussing the website. its not in the calendar in the special events calendar. I didn't go into the FSO forum looking for it, neither would anyone else, therefore, you, my friend, are wrong.  :D

Wrong again. Just because you don't stay up to date on FSO happenings does not mean that the other 499 players do not. It doesn't take any mAd iR tHe gReatEst sKilZ to do that.
But hey, it's your sandbox, enjoy. Maybe you could put together a Klingon vs Romulan death match in a few weeks. That would be so rAd cOoL.

Then why are you arguing with me? The proposed setup for next week is exclusionary. There are fighters that can't really be effective in ground attack and there are ground vehicles.

That setup both ignores the history in the ETO and excludes anyone who may desire to drop some bombs on a GV driven by a human or other ground target.
I'm trying to get you to look at it with something besides your ego. If you want to get really historical, the North Africa campaign was one of the very few times level bombers were used against large forces of armor with B-25s and Bostons, but then with all your research you probably knew that. In Western Europe fighter/bombers were used to attack tanks, level bombing was reserved for high altitude operations against strategic targets...and you probably already knew that. On the Eastern front, dive bombing was used since neither side had the equipment needed for the accuracy of level bombing tanks. I fly fighters almost exclusively...most only carry 1 bomb and there are plenty of things you can knock out with a single bomb, including a tank...with the icon settings in the AvA, it's just harder to do.

Looks to me like this is a setup aimed at a very specific group instead of one trying to appeal to a wider audience.
The Leaning into France setup that ran didn't appeal to a "wider audience". The Midway setup didn't appeal to a "wider audience". The Okinawa setup didn't appeal to "a wider audience". It happens all the time...some of us are trying to rectify that in different ways and there are disagreements as to what can or should be done.

When will people learn to just drop it? Its what 1 week i believe they said.
Gees this is getting ridiculous.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, I'm not a regular in the A.V.A. but this is one of the few setups that actually attracts me in there.
Who knows i may stick around for the next setup to.

well, if you saw what was posted before it was edited out earlier today, then you would know that the AvsA is "only" about historical matchups of aerial combat only

and it said nothing about TaNk WaRz or GVs at all

The Axis versus Allies arena, (AvA) is set up for historical gameplay. This is a two sided arena, a limited plane set, with reduced radar and icon ranges. Setups usually change every Friday. The AVA staff will rotate between theatres of operations and time frames. You will set setup’s from the Battle of Britain in 1940 to a 1945 setup in Japan. Eastern and Western Europe, Mediterranean, North Africa, and throughout the Pacific are theatres used.

Unlike the Main Arena’s field capture is not the focus, but rather fair and balanced aircraft engagements. Vulching is frowned upon as is spawn camping. All players are expected to behave in a polite and chivalrous manner. Rude heckling and insulting behavior will not be tolerated by any AvA staff.

Feel free to post any questions you may have in the AvA forum.

Happy Hunting!

Sincerely,

AvA Staff

Spawn camping refers to GVs last I checked. :)

Beat me to it Ranger. I've noticed a few mentions of GV's before. Not to mention the few times me and my squaddies have been Gving in the AVA.
GV's seem to be very much a part of it.

I don't think anyone is objecting to GV's being present. Add some close air support aircraft and the setup hits the mark.

Exactly Dawger  :aok

GV's benefit from Air support.  When I GV, I am very appreciative of air recon looking for possible threats positioning to close in for a kill.  It is just as much fun doing the recon and chasing the enemy's support away.  HiTech was very insightful to have included the ground war as a feature to promote more air to air opportunities.

I've always been a big believer in creating a ground war away from fixed land bases and centered more on targets like bridges, crossroads, mountain passes etc etc. A ground war creates targets for close air support aircraft which then become targets for fighters and the entire real world modern battlefield is created.
