Scaling the joystick....

I`ve pretty well figured out the essential`s for playing AH, but there is one thing that continues to elude me; and that`s getting my joystick to "settle down" (At least a little) while firing at an opposing player....I understand that there always will be gunsight shake, given the nature of combat flight, but what am I missing in the scaling settings to reduce this "shake" as much as possible?....What settings do you use?.....

When I switched from the Logitec to the Saitek stick it was such a huge improvement in how exact the stick functioned I couldn't believe it.

Also, how old is your stick? Lots of mileage? As they age they get to a point where thy send spiking errant signals to the game and that does play with your accuracty too.

My scaling is default. It was the stick itself that was a problem.

For some reading your request it will help them if you give the type of joystick currently being used on your PC. I'm using a CH Fighterstick USB and introduced a slight x and y dead band from the CH Manager in windows. Otherwise, nothing in AH itself. With X52's I had to introduce deadband in AH that was not always very satisfactory due to how loose the centering spring is.

also, I can not help you much for scaling a "joustick".... I do not teach or help people with "jousting"    ( just joking about your spelling )

what or how do you have your scaling set up currently would be of help also..... ( if possible taking screenshot pics and posting them here for each axis would be of help possibly )

you can also do a search on the messageboards, regarding this problem........ search for "Joystick Scaling"  and I am sure you will find numerous threads regarding proper & good ways of setting your scaling.....

I owned a Logitic force 3d pro it was very poor, then bought X52 which was a vast improvement required a lot of scaling but was very nice.

My CH fighterstick arrived last week plugged it in using AH settings with no dead band,dampening or scaling.
The joystick works perfectly straight out of the box or it required was calibrating.

I use a Logitech Freedom 2.4 cordless joystick.....But I thought using the scaling feature is the way to smooth out the flying..I`ve tried a straight up (almost diagonal) line, to straight across (if this makes any sense).....I guess I`m wrong....Explain away....I`m not all that computer savvy......But I didn`t think it would be a joystick problem...

1/4" for dampening and deadband, curve starting from bottom left upto top right

I have no dampening or dedband on my x52 I hate the jerking motion when u want to move just a bit.

then add some dampening to make it stop "jerking"

I've used a Sidewinder 3D Pro, a Saitek ST290 and a Saitek AV8R all with default scaling except I adjust the deadband and dampening to 0 until the stick starts to wear, then I inch them up to eliminate spiking.

i use the Mtnman scaling on my X52, none. All my sliders are at the very top all the way across.
