Lock ups with TNT cards .txt
« on: August 12, 2001, 01:28:00 PM »
In the pc I'm using now I have an old Canopus Spectra 2500 TNT card. I installed the new 12.41 Nivida drivers. Now I experience lock ups when I fire my gun or I get pinged. Anyone Have a version of these drivers that works well for them. I'm also running win2k.

Hmmm, symtoms point to a sound issue.

However, to start with I've learned through experience that the later detonator drivers are not really designed with the TNT chipset in mind.  Sure they work, but not as well as some of the older dets.

I run TNT2's at work, and we've gone to the Det. 7.58's I believe for Win2k.  Go to http://dangerousdog.com/downloads/dets/index.htm  and you can get all the different versions.  Try the 7.58's and see if that solves the problem.  If it doesn't look at updating your sound drivers, or check for any IRQ sharing, especially between your video and sound cards.

Lep, thanks for the reply. You hit the nail on the head. That was exactly it. This old ABIT mobo has some serious issues with irq settings. After reinstalling win98 and playing "swap the pci slots" I fianlly got things to work right.
