Maybe your ideas weren't any good and HiTech and crew were just being polite instead of laughing at your ideas.  Well, they probably did laugh at them but they were polite enough to not do it in your face.

ack-ack

I never mentioned the idea......just asked for his contact info.

the idea by the way...is fantastic.

broadcasting arena action on live cam sites is genius. (AND FREE) a 24/7 Live feed of AH on this and other channels would bring in HUNDREDS of new paying customers. http://www.justin.tv/directory/featured#r=r3Bk2X0~

it sure beats paying for ads on the military channel.

it would also behoove them to contact a few cable channels and see if they cannot get some interest in said channels featuring AH in some tech related segments.

And when you complain about lag and FPS i will be your fault

It is not about fault.  The first step in solving an issue is to identify the source of the issue.

Here is some logic for you.  If the servers were the problem, everyone, and I mean 100% of the players online would have the same exact problems.  100% of the players do not have the problem.  Want proof?  What do you think would happen if I pulled the Ethernet cable from the back of the server?  Do you think it would effect 100% of the players?

Now, back it out one step from the servers.  If it was our immediate Internet connection, to the servers, again, 100% of the players online would have the same exact issues.

Now, keep backing away from the servers and eventually you will find the problem.  It could be any carrier/router between you and the servers.  Where and what the exact problem is, for any given person online, could vary, but if you want to beat your head against the wall and not actually try to find the issue, then blame the servers.  It is much easier to do.

Forget the server.....  I like to blame the BigIP.   :neener:

I generally agree, but imo the minimum and maximum values vary based on the size of the map.  Smaller maps will require less players but will degrade quicker.  Large maps, the opposite.  Since the orange and blue map rotations are seemingly random in that there is no code set to make sure there is always a small and large map in rotation, it doesn't seem you guys have taken this point into consideration.

Agreed.

Broadcast what from where?

And, when someone asks for your contact information, some random person from the internet, what do you do?

I read your idea in the other thread and consider it not very well thought out.

What exactly are they broadcasting?  Are you saying HTC should set up a webcam that is pointing at a monitor that is showing what...?

The tower at some field?

What are people going to click and watch exactly?

Where is this "action" you speak of and how will they "show" it.

The ONLY thing that has merit (which you didn't suggest) would be to have them run their commercial over and over on a loop.  Or maybe get a couple hours worth of films and run those on a loop.

THAT might work to a small degree.

Doubt it would be worth the effort though.

(oh, and welcome to the mid-90's btw)

Yep, I agree about the servers.  What about the FE though?  That is where my problems have been since day one.  I ve been through several computers but never been able to get decent FPS or avoid statering, and never been able to run in high detail.  After last update all the new stuff had to be turned off so I could maintain 50fps with no one around.  Titanic Tuesday though (in busy areas) was impossible to play, so I spent most of my time in the DA.  That is part of the reason am not playing anymore, although, the account is still active.

I also agree on not addressing the issues.  It is easier to say the servers have no problem and not address the real issues of the FE and the game engine since most people don't understand what is going on and there is always the fun club to make you look stupid for complaining on the bbs   :aok

Dedalos pretty much ruined DA.

Dedalos, if you start with an OEM computer, from say Hewlett Packard.  You would have to spend a lot of time cleaning it up so the CPU is not drowning in processes.  Then there are players who simply ask too much of the hardware they have available.  I have even had players argue with me about how their video card should be able to handle something and they refuse to disable a feature I tell them is causing thier problem.

At any rate, I can speculate as to why any given front end performs poorly, but without specifics, it is just speculation.  There are just too many possible combinations out there to make much sense with just speculation.  If you have something specific, then lets address that.

you (and LUTE) must not have visited the site...or you would have the answers you seek.

one can broadcast whatever they want...live action...or a recording of titanic tuesday. nobody asks for contact information. and they can set up their profile page with a link right to the Aces High website.

All the fun stuff is blocked where I am.  As I type, I may be monitored.

I'll check it out but I'm still not clear on what would be shown to entice new players.  A recording of what of Titanic Tuesday?

as much as possible.... a naval battle...an air battle.....a GV battle....   users at these sites can post an "endless loop" (recording) to be broadcast 24/7...or broadcast live...as I have said.  thousands of gamers on those cam sites...the perfect demographic.  it's a no brainer.

Not to be mean but, thousands of gamers, very popular yadda yadda yadda, and none of the addicts here (including me) have ever heard of it, use it, or know what it is about.

Great, thats what this sim needs, is a bunch of WoW and Quake nerds invading it.. PASS!

As much as we hate to admit it, it is a game. It is a game with a very strong following by a core group that are not playing it because of the cool graphics or the nifty arenas, but because of the genre it represents. This is why HTC advertises on the channels that they do. They aren't going after everyone that can by a joystick, they are going after those that can appreciate the game for what is offers outside of being the bestestist.

Bottom line is, there's always something to do.. whether or not its what you want to do is a different story.

P.S. Just an FYI, if you log in around 1:00pm edt, the caps are usually just starting to be enforced. If you give it a little bit, they even out quite quickly.

Are not the newer computers have more process than before?  I noticed windows 7 and vista (especially vista) having a lot of processes in the background on a stock puter.
