1st FS/413FG P-47N (blue tail yellow diamond)
« on: May 24, 2010, 02:18:18 AM »
To differentiate this from the black-trimmed plane it's based on, I have given it a different name.

In many places 1FG is called 1st FG, in searching online references. I named the black-ruddered P-47N "1FS/413FG by Krusty" so I will name this one "1st FS/413FG by Krusty" to set them apart.

P.S. Sorry about the jaggies, I forgot I turned FSAA off for another game when I took these shots.

References are pieced together from the Lyric P-47N thread.

I got the code from this plane, which had its tail painted blue "in preparation for the new markings" (I assume that means the yellow diamond?) Note the tail code is overpainted.

Here we have a diagram outlining the specific painting used ot identify the squadron (note this doesn't give a specific aircraft profile), also where I got size/position/proportion for the diamond:

Here is an attempt at a color profile, but the blue tail and black stripe are wrong, and are more like what would be found on another unit later.

An example of another plane using this later style tail markings already in-game, showing that I think the profile artist was merely mixing up his references. This is a common stripe/tail style for other units:

From this yellow-tailed plane we can see the style and how the black tail band really should appear:

Those are the references used to piece this skin together. The 1 FS fuselage codes would be re-used as the planes were repainted with the changing colors, so I have no issue using "AY" fuselage codes unless somebody comes out and tells me it was shot down in the brief span between the time it was painted blue but before it received a yellow diamond (an unlikely event, but if it is so I can change the codes later and resubmit).

Looks great, but I don't know if HTC will allow the change in the format of the drop down selection text.  I tried to differentiate my multiple 8FG/80FS by Oboe with individual a/c letter IDs, but HTC didn't go for it.

There is some precedent for minor tweaks. I don't think HTC wants to include plane codes or anything, but how you present the squadron can vary.

For example I have 2 different skins of the same plane on the Fw190A5, one is "JGr Ost by Krusty" and one is "JGr/Ost by Krusty"

There is also some leeway with how you format a skin name, FG first then FS, or FS first then FG. Also with one of my hurricane 1 skins I screwed up and it got shortened to "87S by Krusty" instead of "87S/RAF by Krusty" like I should have done.

Since I'm not naming names, not giving an individualized description of the plane, I'm just rewording how the FS/FG are typed out, I think they might accept it. If not I can always swap the FG/FS around so that it's "413FG/1FS by Krusty" or some other variation.

Most definately your best work! I recently discovered your JG27 skin for the 109F by the way - I really like it!
