monitor goes black

Hi everybody

I am brand new, signed on three days ago, and already have a major problem; after being in the game maybe two minutes my monitor goes completely black and nothing works except to do a forced shutdown with the tower's power switch. The sounds are still there but no video. I have been playing on Fighter Ace previously with no problems; I am running Windows 7 on Gateway machine: two years old, 3 GB ram, 2.5 GHZ processor etc. Any ideas?

EvilEyes, could you post up a DXDIAG output?

I will speculate as to what could be the issue.

1)  Your computer does not have the monitor INF file loaded and the video card is using the wrong vertical refresh rate for the game resolution chosen.

2)  The video is overheating and shutting down.

3)  The cable from the video card to the monitor has a problem.

Those are best guesses until a DXDIAG is posted.  Thank you.

As I suspected, your computer does not have the monitor INF file loaded.  You are using the "Generic PnP Monitor" INF.  For the most part, that will work, but it could cause sync issues between the video card and the monitor.

The monitor INF can be obtained from the monitor manufacturer, or possibly Gateway.
