what was that little two person tank that the Brits used? but i think they were only in gliders... sooooo....+1 to gliders :D

Yeah it would be really neat...if the C-47 had a loading ramp in the back end and the capacity to get off the ground with up to 80 tons...but it didn't.

He must be refering to a C46...... my grandfather flew one in the pacific theater, over the himalayas.  He swears to this day, that was the only time he saw 10k pounds of steel Jump 6 inches off the floor. When it hit, he thought that they were going to go down, because of how loud the crash was.

Even the C-46 could't carry a tank...or even a half-track. Everything that couldn't be carried on had to be winched onboard. The best it could handle was light artillery.

46's and c-47's could carry a jeep.....air drop them.....no-way
 1st time U.S. air dropped a jeep (by design) was with a C-119

Cruiser tetrach or M22 locust, and the Hamilcar glider. The glider was used to deliver the tanks and other heavy equipment to support the airborne.

Whats the point of dropping a Jeep out of a C-47 when you can drop more than 2 troops or 2 supps?
