Who here fly-fishes for Crappie? The tastiest flakiest fish from Freshwater..... :x

I fly fish for all sorts of stuff.  Crappie, bluegill, green sunfish, rock bass, perch, walleye, white bass, northern pike, largemouth and smallmouth bass, all sorts of trout, salmon, whitefish, chubs.  I've tried for muskie and gar, no luck yet.  No catfish either, but I bet I could catch channel cats.

There are probably some others, too, but these types are what comes to mind right now.  You can catch practically anything on a fly rod, it's just a matter of tailoring your rigging and flies for the situation.

Fly fishing for crappie can be so effective at times it almost doesn't seem sporting.  In the spring, when the guys with minnows and bobbers are really "slayin' 'em" I can out-fish 'em with a fly rod.  The same goes for bluegills.

I caught my muskie (posted already in this thread a while back) on a Quantum Crappie pole with 8 lb crappie line  :lol

You can catch any fish on most any tackle, you just have to know how to use the equipment and know it's limits. (Drag, baby, drag)

Like Mtnman I fly fish for most of the fish I catch.

I'm lucky enough to have several cold water streams and rivers nearby and some warm water rivers even closer.

Been tyeing flies for 20 years or so and lately my eyes are so bad I've pretty much stopped, but I have several thousand flies to use.

I have 7 or 8 flyrods of different weights and lengths also a couple or 3 float rods.My favs are my 5wt sage and my 13ft handmade floatrod,if I use anymore than 6lb line on the floatrod I risk breaking it!

I don't think you can call it stealing if you tossed them out there for them to grab...

Got a 17" and a 21" brown today.  Also mtnman if you could keep your Golly-geen birds locked up that would be swell.  Got a 14" that would have went to the frying pan if it wasn't for the huge beak holes he had in him.
To each their pwn.

Can't you just eat around the holes?  I'm sure they're not that "filling" anyway...

I wonder what put holes in it?  Maybe a heron?  Had it been an eagle or osprey, I seriously doubt it would have gotten away if it was grabbed well enough to put holes in it.
