Logitech sticks are junk!
« on: November 27, 2000, 11:45:00 PM »
Word of warning to all looking at Logicrap sticks,in the last year I`ve had a Wingman Extreme and a Wingman Extreme Digital 3D.

The extreme broke a spring bracket at approx 3-4 months of use,the extreme 3d rudder switch has 2 *VERY* fragile dog ears that control rudder twist function mounted on the micro switch.

After fighting my stick for the last 3 tours I finally opened it to check out the problem-1 of the ears had broken off which meant anytime i used the rudder it wouldn`t return to center causing a lot of drag and many hours of frustration and deaths.Don`t waste your money on this kind of trash-you get what you pay for.

INFIDEL!!!!!!!!!!

Dont bash thy logitech stick!
I have a Wingman digital extreme 3d and i had some trouble with it spiking so I took it apart and took that spring and pulled and stretched the crap out of it, now the stick is really stiff...LOL, no really ive had mine for a long time and havent had any trouble at all.  Dollar for dollar its hard to beat a logitech.

That thing with the rudder, yea that sucks ya probably got a lemon there, i dont know what a spring racket is or how you could have broke anything in there.  Ive had a ms precision pro too and i like the ergo feel of the sidewinder better.

I used to have a sidewinder P pro USB and now I'm using a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3d.  The p pro had a better feel to the handle, but the Logitech has much better springs.  So far I'm happy with the Logitech...

At only $35 US it's a pretty good deal IMO.  I'm sorry to hear you had bad luck with it.

I have had nothing but heck with my Wingman Xtremem 3D stick.
Started getting the dreaded "Don't move your controls so rapidly" message in the buffer........only problem was, I had just logged in and the stick was sitting on the desktop, untouched!
Checked the calibrations, was getting MAJOR spikes in it.....went to the basic setup area, tried to calibrate it that way, and all it did was oscillate back and forth, no matter what I did.  I have tried the deadband, damper, latest drivers, etc., with NO luck.
Am to the point of either getting another stick, like another Precision Pro, or a Saitek X36, and/or purchasing a set of pedals to eliminate the rudder inputs from the stick itself.
Anyone running this stick with pedals?  What brand(s) and models will work?

PS--I have talked to 7 people now in this immediate area who bought their sticks from the same place I did, and all of them are seeing the same thing I am.  Is there a problem with the Logitech itself?

IMO its a design flaw in the rudder control,I removed the twist switch from its bracket.centered the rudder axis and taped it so the R axis can`t move, spikes are now gone.

I have had my Logitech Wingman Extreme for about 18 months now and have had not a single problem - all the buttons, all three hats and the throttle work fine, even in conjunction with my home-made rudder.

My Logitech Wingman Extreme 3d USB lasted for about 3 months before spiking would cause my controls to lock up in flight.  I never got the "moving your stick too fast" message at any time. I have a Sidewinder Precision Pro USB now and it works fine... though I miss the extra thumb buttons.

One thing I had a hard time with was how totally and completely ugly the Logitech stick was.  Oh well... it will plague the surface of my computer hutch no more.
