Ditto on the case, although the NZXT tempest is solid too.

I'd try it first without a sound card and just use the onboard sound. if you have issues then buy the sound card. I just use the onboard sound and it does fine.

It's the same Tempest case, except it's Black on the inside now.

Yeah, I got my Lexa S from TD. I have a Tempest EVO in my closet waiting for parts. :)

ok next question...... what flavor motherboard would u guys suggest.... looking for an over clocker...   I'd do about two bills or so...  this is for a AMD965 BE

Heya wakes,
you said you wanted to go with an ATI videocard, so I would recommend going with an ATI North bridge, regardless of manufacturer for the MB.......

but if it was my money, I would purchase one of the 3 listed in the newegg link below:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2%2050001315%2040000022%201070946178%201071134450%20107191003%201071957483&name=AMD%20890FX

all 3 of these have the newest ATI 890FX N.B. on them.... just pick which one satisfys your requirements

and a nice ATI 5870HD vidcard,  would work nicely for you, along with a seasonic 750watt PSU

you shouldn't need water cooling right away, that "NZXT tempest" provides plenty of airflow

my recommendations, anyhows.....

Lexa S is a nice case too.  I prefer the side mount I/O panel on the Lexa over the top mount configuration of the Tempest.

Yeah I must admit it helps a lot when the desktop sits to the right of you on the desk...IMO both cases are prettyt much the same except for that and the HDD cages.  Both great, sturdy cases.

I would go with a Gigabyte MB.  I have my i3 oc at 4.4ghz from 2.93.  Yes it is water cooled too.  Bios was really overclocking friendly.

well, I have used both Gigabyte & ASUS  MB's, my experience is ASUS is much better and more stable with AMD cpu's, and has just as much overclocking potential as Gigabyte if not more abilitys  ( also ASUS has 3 year warranty for MB )....... but YMMV

I am very big on getting good quality warrantys for my PC components I buy.......

as for the ATI HD5770..... they are good cards, but I would choose either Visiontek or XFX branded ATI cards for their lifetime warranty....... or I would choose ASUS even though the warranty is only 3 years

check out these 2 Visiontek cards:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/compare.asp?CatId=3669

also, I would check out newegg for possibly better pricing, unless you have a tigerdirect account???

5750's, 5770's, or even 5850's  are all good products , the 5850 is also a bit pricey though but cheaper than the 5870........

the 5800 series of ATI cards is tops, the 5700 series is just a step below top grade....... if you was wondering the differences...most times it is like 5800 series has 256 bit Memory Interface to where 5700 series has 128 bit Memory Interface

edit: and the 5700 series is just a bit slower on the clock speeds etc....... not enough to really notice though....

hope this helps

A few people are running the 5770s and getting good performance out of the...but as will all graphics cards, you can never tell what a patch upgrade is going to cause until it happens.

You're going to notice a lot of difference from that 260 BFG. I've dealt with XFX warranty before, and as long as you register that card and keep the receipt as well as the part of the box with the serial number on it...you can get good service.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150462

You're lucky that BFG didn't blow out on you...they over state the specs on their cards...Diamond brand cards are better and they suck.

5770 will run the game full bore but it starts to struggle for me on shadowing at 8000 textures.

5770 is currently the best bang for the buck card.

I determined to have three screens,,after finding out that my mobo doesnt support the
XFX HD 5770 to use eyeinifity, i decided to replace my mobo..
I'm getting all from tigerdirect
AMD Athlon II X4 620 Quad Core Processor
MSI 790GX-G65 Motherboard - AMD 790GX, AM3 ATI Hybrid CrossFire, CrossFireX, PCIe
OCZ Fatal1ty Dual Channel 4096MB PC10666 DDR3 1333MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB)

My total bill from TD is $354.00
I already have the 5770 card $169.00 and PS Corsair 750W
the HD and Creative Sound Card (PCI)

I decided after considering getting the matrox for $300.00 but I still needed a better mobo..
So, decided to upgrade mobo..I wanted to keep my budget around $500.00 for upgrade..
there is always better but depends on your budget...I also run Flight Simulator...

why would you want a Motherboard with  onboard video when you have a videocard capable of eyefinity ( or using 3 monitors )?  you'd be better off getting a FX northbridge model instead of GX northbridge model

I would think

might want to double check your MB specs against perhaps the MB linked below which is also an MSI MB with the 790FX northbridge:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130223

this MSI MB is even better:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130274

it might suit your needs better? maybe?
