Ejection seats
« on: June 06, 2010, 03:28:05 AM »
The ejection seat was needed back in late WW2,when the Germans knew they needed something besides just jumping out the plane. For the 262s (as I'm aware of so far) had ejection seats and some fast versions of the 109,had the ejection seat. Would it be possible to have them. Now we don't have a reason for them, but this game does need to feel like it's real. People go all the way to have 3 screens, foot petals worth $100 of dollars. Maybe also be possible to have cockpits that open up. However I would see problems with bugs like cockpit wouldn't close and people would die more easily when they forgot to close the cockpit possibly. It would be an interesting edition to the game though. :)

That pretty much says it all right there.

Wrong on both.

Planes in serial production equipped with ejection seats: He 219, Do 335 (never operational), Ar 234, He 162.
There are a few sites claiming the 262 was the first ejection seat equipped plane, but it was not - the similar twin jet fighter He 280 was (first usage in January 1943). The first operational plane with a ejection seat was the HE 219. The 262's in serial production did not have ejection seats.

There are more important things, adding planes, fixing bugs and improving what is already here. I think it would just cause too many problems, too many bugs.

-1 new(er) thinking though, least it isn't a B-29 thread

You have ejection seats already. Hit whatever key you have assigned to the bail out command 3 times, instant ejection even in a fresh plane. If you want some added immersion, stand up then hit the bail out key.

I suggest you read books on WW2 aircraft more.

You might want to run into a low table very fast once in a while to simulate hitting the horizontal stab  :lol

Thank you,yes you have mistaken a 12year old. Just an idea that my squad had voted on that they would like that's all but 4. They wanted this I agreed. fbWldcat if you had read more closely,I have already mentioned this is just an idea there might be bugs and complaints about this as well but more or less this is a request and this is a forums for request. Thank you Lusche I never knew any of that. :salute All

For the life of me I can't figure out how the addition of an ejection seat, in the few aircraft that apparently might have had them, will make this game any more real than bailing out as it works today.  And what bugs would there be?  Hitting enter 3 times and NOT bailing because your ejection seat malfunctioned?  Or perhaps just as you're about to squirt some lead at that con 300 off your nose, after a hard-fought dogfight to get him there, your ejection seat malfuctions and you're now hanging from your chute instead?
