In an earlier thread Bloom mentioned frame rates will only goes as high as your monitor refresh rates. We'll I've been constantly o/c my system and v-card to get the best frame rates in AH. Right now in the MA im getting a ceiling of 85 Frames and about 50 in smoke, so I fiugred it was attributed to what Bloom said about refresh rates. Well Friday night in TOD on the older map I was getting 120-135 Frames and no lower than 80 with cons engaging me. I never got over 85 even when there was action on my screen in 1.07 either. Someone explain to me why I would peak at 85 in the MA and go unlimted in the TOD please?

Somehow V-sync (vertical sync) must have gotten disabled or you raised the refresh rate of you monitor without knowing. If V-sync is on (it should be by default) your max fps is determined by your refresh rate.

...so Bloom, is v-sync good or bad. what are the benefits of either one?

Is vsync good, bad, or indifferent?
