1. Is there any difference in AH between using DirectX 7 versions 8? (latest editions of both) 8 has tended to mess up my Roger Wilco.

2. I currently have analog CH stick, throttle, and pedals. If I purchase all new USB stuff in the future how do you hook them all together? Do you need a USB hub? or are they hooked together in sequence?

Ordered my new system (upgrade really) consisting of...

AMD Athlon XP 1700
ASUS A7V266 Motherboard
256 Mb memory (for now)
New case with plenty of power and cooling
Sound Blaster Live Value (hope it works ok, may get Audigy in several months)

Kept the cost well less than $500 including 2 day shipping so I can play with it next week during the holidays.

- good monitor
- Geoforce2 GTS
- harddrive
- CD
- Windoze 98 SE with updates (I may switch to Win2000 in another 3 or 4 months, following updates for drivers, joysticks, and such) I keep my windows 98 pretty well clean and tidy but I feel it still messes with me every now and then, and that there are old file and driver skeletons hiding in my regestry, burning up system resources.

You cannot run AH on DirectX 7, can you? I think its 8.0 or nothing now.

Yeah it can run on DirectX 7.0a which is what I have loaded...

I was just wondering if the 8.1 offers any more in AH?

Oh and with CH, I have a pretty good CH joystick and peddles, although analog and have not had any problems. I was considering to purchase a Pro Throttle analog for the extra stuff. I just have a regular CH throttle.

Anyone know a good place to look for a regular CH throttle? I looked in pricewatch but could not find one...

Most of the DirectX 8 exclusive features were removed from AH because of sketchy driver support from numerous vid card vendors.

I don't know if DX8 makes anything better for AH. DX7 should be enough.

You may want to read through "News, Announcements and Information" for the last 100 days and look for Pyro's beta announcements. They'll give you a good idea of what was/is no longer implemented.
