Question about 8 way hat switch
« on: October 15, 2001, 08:40:00 PM »
I'm considering buying a joystick/flight stick.
What I was wondering was how do i look up and down with a 8 way hat switch?

well for most of us the 45 degree up is pushing the hat up(away), to look 90 degrees up or down you need secondary keys maped to the NUM 5 for up and NUM 0 for down that work in conjuction with the standard hat directions.

I use the Saitek x36, and it has a pinky switch that works great for this.

I use "press forward" as view forward+up, other views as is ("normal" left/right, fwdleft etc) plus "pinky" (as 2late4u) switch as "View Up" modifier. Gives all 17 view needed in flight. The only reason to look down would be to look at instruments on some planes. It's not (IMHO) a vital function so I just map it to a secondary button on a throttle...
