Seeding an arena...For the hardcore AvA guys
« on: June 11, 2010, 07:29:20 AM »
In my experience players follow numbers. And nothing is worse than the number zero.

What I did along with a few other hard core history flyers is seed the arena where we wanted to attract players.

But it starts with a plan.

We decided that most folks flew between 3pm to 6 pm Eastern (European players) and 8 pm to 11pm Eastern. That was our seeding schedule.

The folks in the seeding group would log into the arena and fly. It was important to get a target on radar. It seemed to help. We spent some time flying around on autopilot but I would do my websurfing or chores around the house and check the flying progress every few minutes.

After a relatively few weeks of doing this consistently with enough guys to always have someone in the arena during our schedule we developed a regular following and no longer needed to seed.

That is what it is going to take but I don't think it will take very long at all for the AvA to get going. Almost every time I fly in a Main Arena I see an AvA regular flying. I'm pretty sure we would both rather be there.

If we start a seeding group I will take my shifts as much as possible.

I would suggest we seed from 8 pm Eastern to 11pm Eastern.

Anyone interested?

This idea really does work......... I know in past years, I would sit in there for 10 to 20 to 30 minutes oor longer...... eventually they came.... then at other times it was Oldman or 1Duke1 or Eagler, etc. doing the deed......

most times within 10 minutes or less, you would see others start to pile in the Arena... wouldn't be too long before their were a good 8 to 20 people flying & having fun, some nights even more people........

All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

I'll usually be in the arena on Tuesday nights starting around 9pm est. I will also be seeding the arena on Wednesday afternoon starting 3pm est. I will also try to make some Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

I'd love to have some euro or US daytime guys join me especially on Weds.

The best days for me are Mondays after 6 Eastern and weekends...the rest of the week is up in the air but usually if I'm on, it's between 1900 and 2300 Eastern time.

My wife took a nap so i popped online and there were 4 people in the AvA.

Had some good fights with Merc and Cooldued while winging with MojoRizn.

Middle of the afternoon.........

Wish we had a text message system that sent out AvA alerts :)

Would be nice if we had a web interface to check arena populations (just a 5 minute refresh).

Cool, we can make Wed a target for US day timers and European guys. We kind of have a start on this already as Wednesday I often see 6 or more guys in there.

This Wed I'll probably get in around 4pm est.

With regard to seeding and the population of the AvA, I'm a relatively new pilot, and I've been trying out the AvA, due to the scenarios and historic aspects that it offers. I've heard mentioned before that loners don't do as well, and I think that that, combined with my inexperience and long trek up the learning curve, leads me to have a brief, exciting life when I'm in there. To that end, if anyone knows of a squad willing to take a newbie willing to show up on a semi-regular basis, that would be appreciated. :pray
