Transformers 3 - Is this good news or bad news?
« on: June 11, 2010, 09:44:42 PM »
Michael Bay has owed up to the disappointment of Transformers 2 by accepting partial responsibility for the mistakes that led to most audience complaints (personally, I didn't think it was quite AS bad as people said. However it WAS incredibly slow, overblown, and I HATED that they turned the Constructicons into generic Decepticon cannon fodder troops. Hell, even sprite comics have moved past recolors! Devastator was awesome, tho). I hope George Lucas is paying attention to this.

As far as the lineup for Transformers 3, Bay has confirmed that Shockwave will be joining the Decepticons, which has the potential for awesome.

However now that Megan Fox has been booted, IMO the only thing that has ANY hope of redeeming the franchise now is to bring on Unicron.

Good call on Unicron.  Though if they tried that now, people would be whining about how it was too much like the new Star Trek IMO.

Ehhhh she was just eye candy for the movie anyway...nothing of real substance in my opinion. Its and action movie adapted from a comic book series; don't put too much faith into them following the way it should have been just like they screwed up GI Joe.

From what I understand John Tuturro IS returning. The only main (human) cast that's not is Fox.

You think the chick they're replacing her with is gonna to be any different?

Fox at least had SOME (mostly TV or TV movies) prior acting credits. Huntington hasn't done anything but Victoria's Secret commercials. Guess we know Bay's opinion on actresses.

Megan Fox turned into a prima-donna. She was a nothing until her appearance in the first movie, and her acting isn't enough to overcome the on set attitude. It's going to be interesting to see how this next episode turns out.

Unicron would be a bad call. I wonder what other primes they are going to try and dig up though.

Why? I mean seriously, how can you go wrong with a robot the size of a planet that EATS other planets?

Besides, in the original mythology the Fallen was a minion of Unicron to begin with. It would only make sense for him to be a build up to Unicron.

Unicron came in with the "space wars" part of the story from the far reaches of space and Megatron was resurrected as Galvatron. It would require the end of Optimus Prime and introduce Rodimus Prime as well as many other somewhat lesser known characters. Besides, that part of the transformers saga detracts from the current storyline which focuses on the battles over the possession of Earth.

Actually, it would be a good way to END the series. Optimus sacrifices himself (He's Optimus, it just wouldn't be Transformers if he didn't sacrifice himself to save everyone) to destroy Unicron and end the war altogether; no more Decepticons, no need to introduce Rodimus Prime or any of the others.

Trilogies are nice. They have a beginning, middle and end. They need to stop at 3.

I am going to be open about this.  I do not get excited on movies like these.  Not sure if i just grown up or "not my cup of tea" movie. Hopefully both.
