scoring the recon missions?
« on: June 12, 2010, 12:44:10 AM »
The 325th VFG was defending V98 for frame 2 along with the 77th.  After the 190 attack we had 2 single and separate 234's come in low, no bombs so I assume they were the recon birds.  I will assume they got their pictures.  One got a away damaged but probably made it back.  The other was chased and forced down near 11 5 3ish.  The 234 landed in a open field and towered from the report I got.

So from a scoring stand point.....  Possibly 1 234 completed his mission and would get his points, but the other would not because even though he got his pictures he didn't get back to base?

Just curious on how this situation is scored...

If the Arado (or FR Spit) did a proper run and rtb'd and sends in the film, he gets the pts for the mission. No more than one "recon pts" per target is awarded max but a side can send in  more than one recon a/c if they want to do that. Just means less for fighter or bomber duties. Its the CiCs call. Its good tactics to send in 2, one as a backup, and thats mirroring real life missions in WW2. The shot down Arado is still worth pts to the Allies.

Squire thanks for the answer.

Curry thanks for the info.  I know one of my guys chased that 234 for a while but couldn't catch it.  You guys did a great job getting in there to take the pics.  We were lucky to have had a few pilots break off of the 190 fight early and go back to V-98 to cover a second strike but saw you guys instead.  Just lucky on our part.  <S>
