We were 'trying' to take a base, as we had never done that before.  We were told to take the AA down around the town first.

We tried to go as a group NOE but the super radar gave us away.

On other suggestion we learned from our FA historical team is to try and keep ALL the settings consistent between setups. Then folks know what to expect.

The best fights I’ve in the last couple years have happened in the AvA that is why I concentrate on flying so much. I see what people are trying to do and I understand that having an objective can make the game much better but the way the game is currently set up (not arena) always turns those ideas into MA action. I wish AH would do something complete different in the arena. I would like to load up a heavy 38 to bomb some rail yards or strafe some tank columns or supply trains that are advancing towards the front but the way the game is set up doesn’t really allow for it.

This is just my opinion and it carries little to no water lol. When the new maps come out maybe it will play better for captures.

LOL Jappa, then help us get some tankers and bomber jocks in the arena so you have something to do besides furball.  :D

Im really enjoying the furball. Can you imagine the MAs with the same icon setup? Intense wouldnt even start to discribe it lol And I'll come hunt you guys and your noe raids. I would really hate to see vulching in this arean though

It has happened already, as well as wingman tactics picking, squad hording, HO's and the occasional milk run. Very few of us do NOE, just doesn't pay to be caught low.

Of course, I'm in a squad so if a few of us are on together and you want a "fair fight" bring help.  :D

+1 My wing and I followed an aircraft for 3/4s a sector wondering wth it was doing. We were all but waving our arms and yelling "hey!!! Ovvvvver heeeeerrreeee, lets fight  :D !!" Right as we caught up to him we figured out what was on the agenda... to suicide strafe the ack at the field. I guess to set up vulching for a base take.

I can get that kind of stuff all day long in the MA. I hope that doesnt start to be a trend in the AvA

did you stop to think that maybe, the mission was only to kill the ack in the town and the base so that the base could be taken?? i happen to know who the guy was, and he wasn't setting up the base for a vulchfest. he was setting it up to be taken.

awesome. ya know I never did think that. I mean why would someone want to avoid fighting with the best setup in aces high to suicide ack run? To prep the closest allied field to the action for take? Can you not get enough of that in the MA?

I didnt mean to piss in anyones cherrios. if that is what your little heart wants to do then by all means do it. There are so many people flying in the AvA now that people running noe to avoid fights and suicide ack run wont be a problem at all.

im pretty sure that base capture is part of this weeks setup. i guess thats the fun of it, dogfighting isn't for everyone. there are 4 distinct styles of play. the setup appeals to all of them.

I'm liking the AVA because of the lower numbers and lack of humongous horde v 1 scenarios.  Although, it is sometimes entertaining watching a dozen or so planes cracking the whip around behind me  :x .  In here the scenarios play out much more real world like, i.e. 1 v 1 or 2, or 2 v 2.  In the REAL WORLD, a half dozen guys aren't going to chase down one bogey.  Doing so invites the next "grape" to step forward followed by a thorough dusting of airplane parts in the atmosphere. As an example, 3 guys chasing my wingman and none of them aware that I'm closing in on them (well, except for the guy in front of me losing parts of his ride).  Got 2 of the 3 before the Lufbery broke up.  Typically, if someone hasn't saddled up within 90 degrees of turn, they will within 180 degrees and then it's "game on".  This is a perfect scenario demonstrating tactical wing formation and mutual support.

Thanks to all who have worked on the scenarios, maps, etc.  This keeps it fresh and new.  See ya there.  Check SIX!  :salute

Why are any of you guys looking at these setups as dogfighting furball only things? I know everyone pictures himself to be an uber ace but, there is more to these setups than just furball til you pass out.

LOL because the thrill of the hunt is fun. Furballing and action is a big draw to most adrenaline junkies and most fighter pilot guys like that.. its the main draw to flight sims guys like the action.

That said Its even better if your on the way to a target.. escorting some bombers and you get bounced from above and have a nice dog fight utilizing good wing man tactics and survive the attack, then re group with your wing and fulfill the mission....
Its the best of both worlds

i like attacking bases with tanks and wirbles, and getting a good ground/air battle started. and then slug it out til someone either gets the base or quits fighting for the base.
