Mobo Upgrade
« on: June 14, 2010, 09:23:17 AM »
This all started with eyeinfinity and getting three monitors...
I have upgraded to the ASUS M4A79XTD EV) AM3 mobo, processor AMD ATHLON IIX4
I have the HD5770 and 750 WATT power supply.
THe instructions that came with ASUS
recommends a 1000 WATT power supply if using a cross-fire setup with two cards..
The Mobo is now with a Tech shop,, I was too inexperienced to Boot-it up..
One Note: I have to use Vista because I have a legal copy with a Key..My version of XP
is a OEM version and has No Key to re-install WIndows.
Tech will boot it up and set to correct BIOS downloads from ASUS and install the HD5770
to run the (3) monitors...
Seems once to go three you dont go back....lol

You may have trouble running that resolution with a single 5770. Don't expect stellar performance.

WOw, thanks for the Note..From what I understand is that you cannot run eyeinifinity in the cross fire mode with two cards..

Although I'm not an expert on the issue, drivers have included crossfire eyefinity support since 2009.

I'm currently considering eyefinity too and I have serious doubts about my 5850 being up to the task. 5760*1200 resolution is no laughing matter.
