Interesting garage sale find
« on: June 14, 2010, 11:20:04 AM »
Checked out the neighbors garage sale and noticed some old Oakland and San Francisco newspapers wrapped up in a clear bag, the only one I could see had the "Japan surrenders!!" head line.

I can't imagine WW II era papers are all that rare and he wanted 25 bucks, but I figured what the heck? and got em for $20

When I looked through them, found a couple of "Germany surrenders" headlines.........from WW I !!

Think I might see if the local air and space museum might have a use for em.

Yeah I saw that one too, it seems ridiculous now looking back.

Definitely some very interesting stories there, you could spend days just reading all those articles, unfortunately we could only read the titles of most stories, but the ones I could read were good.

I liked the one paper that had the article about how "All life gone in Hiroshima, Japs say", would be nice to get that paper to read.

That's a heck of a collection Oakranger I think mine are not in good enough condition to be valuable. It's surprising how "not rare" such things really are, although the "Great War Ends" one from 1918 might be a little rare.
