finally got it on film
« on: June 14, 2010, 08:49:34 PM »
Have you ever seen a P38 take off with less than half the runway, get to 100 feet, somersault and land successfully again? I had originally tried to slow down to take more fuel, it wasn't on purpose.

Watch it in slow motion, it is far more entertaining that way.

How did it happen??  Were you reaching for your drink on auto takeoff and accidentally hit your stick?   :lol

Naw, I noticed I only had 50% fuel and I wanted 75% internal.

So, I chopped throttle, cut the throttle on the #2 engine, rudder to the right, and tapped the right for the right wheel. I was hoping to spin it in place but I was a little too fast for that.

That was crazy.  I give it a 9.5 on the funky scale.  I have to give a 10 to Spikes though, on this Me262 backflip off a mountain only to recover with no damage.... :huh  Yea, I know, watch.

It's also helpful to have your flaps down and keep the stick in your gut while attempting the spin. You'll spin 180 degrees, scrap the tail, then pivot the reminding 180.

Your aerial was spectacular though. :lol
