No, the one that couldnt get England in to Euro 2008 and got the sack - it was a joke for the english peeps. He's a good club coach.

I know, the English media mafia are quick to set people up to chop them down. I remember they had a clip up laughing at him because he taken up a Dutch accent while coaching over there. You never heard them telling about him winning the league though hes a fantastic coach and should do well at wolfsburg.

Steve McClaren was hopeless.

Fabio Capello has done a great job since he took over. I just don't know what has happened to the team spirit. They play like 11 tired strangers, however good as individual players they may be. COME ON ENGLAND FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rooney looks unfit and doesn't seem to be able to control the ball nevermind play it. Perhaps he should have been subbed?

I've been watching England since 1986 when I was eight years old. I know they can play. Why oh why do they take the hard road every time?

I remember 1970 Dowding and 74 and 78 when we didn't qualify - it doesn't get any better mate :)

Rooneys comment was crass. Those supporters have paid thousands to see England play, they have a right to give their opinion.

I heard his comment.   It's sad he didn't realize his own lackadaisical play was one of the reasons they were booing.   Their "Captain" was non-existent today.

I switched it off after 10 minutes, did laugh when I heard about us being boo'ed of the pitch. Really they need to shape up our game, cut down on the amount of foreign players in the clubs in order to develop home grown talent...I mean come on..It must be bad if we still have to play heskey.

England are playing with the mentality that if they don't try the can't fail. Yoda would have a field day.

Let me qualify that.

Players seem to be afraid to try the same way the do at club level. Afraid of the consequences should they try a - turn, flick, backheel, etc. - and not succeed. So we are stuck with the dross we were subjected to this morning. Boring rugby passes and dis-invention.

English football is traveling backward not through lack of talent but through lack of courage and the blame for that lies not only on the backs of the players but also in the minimum expectations of the supporter and the back-stabbing mentalityof the press.

agree with you here tinman.

There were people burning effigy's of David Beckham when he got sent off against the Argies. It is amazing how fickle everyone can be.  They would rather play safe than experience what he went through.

Surely we can dispatch Slovenia with them being IMO a side with much less attacking qualities than Algeria.

Rooney should have been subbed!

On the positive side,  we haven't lost a match and we can get through guaranteed if we beat Slovenia.  I would like to know what happens if both england and USA draw their next matches and have the same goal difference?  who goes through  :headscratch:

Believe it or not, as far as I can remember for the ref course I was forced to do for my Sports History A-level. after g/d it goes to alphabetical order. I hope FIFA changed that rule cos if we qualify on ABC's I'm gonna chunder in my Frosties.

that was my initial thought  :D,  as long as they get classed as US of A  i'll take it   :P

I think it goes to goals for next,  so America got 2 against slovenia we would need to match that.   :uhoh

Playing Devil's Advocate here but Beckham wasn't sent off for the type of back-heel as referring too. What he did, then, was stupid and he got roasted for it, but, he didn't hide. England seemed like they were scared before the fact. Gutless is the only way to describe the last 180 minutes of 3 Lion football.

I generally enjoy watching World Cup soccer, but one turn off has always been the arrogance
of FIFA and the absolute pathetic quality of officials they use.  I remember watching a France vrs
Ireland qualifying round in which a french striker extended his arm in the most blatant handball I'd
ever seen to knock down a cross 5 yards in front of the goal.  He pumped it in and relegated the
poor Irish from cup play.

Apparently soccer is a full contact sport in Mali, as watching the Solvanian <sp> defender literally
wrap up our player in a play that would have gotten him called for holding in the NFL!  Cost the US a
a victory and allowed cheaters to remain in first.
