Aces High is stretched
« on: June 20, 2010, 06:48:18 PM »
I just got a new monitor and it is wide screen. I notice that the game is stretched, and I want to fix it but don't know what to play with. Can someone give me some advice?

Change the resolution under the settings tab when on the Aces High 2 splash screen.

1920x1080 is most likely the resolution you want. But if not I'm pretty sure the game will detect your displays native resolution, it should be the last one down on the list.

Use the native resolution always.  If you don't know it Google the Model number or post it here and we'll find it for you.  Could be 1440x900 or 1680x1050 or a few others.  Kazaa posted how to change it in AH so you'll just have to change it there.

Right now it is 1440x900, but it is stretched. For example the radar circles are ellipse.

You need to set your monitor and the game resolution to your monitor's native resolution.  Most widescreen 22" monitors are 1680x1050 and most 24" monitors are 1920X1200 IIRC although some are different.

Also, there is most likely a selection in your video card set-up utility for scaleing (sp).  Set that so that it doesn't scale (i.e. stretch the image to fit the screen).
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

My 24" monitor is 1920X1200.  I don't know if 'most' is correct in this case, but regardless, we need the OP's monitor's model number to be sure...

If the monitor is new you should still have the owners manual. It will tell you what the resolution is.

If all else fails read the directions. :P

AH generally defaults to the monitor native resolution. You probably need the correct .inf file for your monitor. If you didn't get a disk with your monitor you should be able to DL the file from the manufacturer's site. You can manually set the resolution but the .inf file will also tell the OS what refresh rates your monitor safely supports.

another thing that might help us help you, is

do you or have you changed the Video settings ( from the AH Log-In clipboard screen )

specifically, have you changed the "Field of View" view angle settings, if so try clicking the set automatically checkbox/button and let AH pick it up on what the Monitor needs....

this to me seems like it might be your problem........ just a suggestion....

might try deleting your video8.cfg file since you have a new monitor and let AH reload it automatically with the new monitor settings....

hope this helps

Thanks for the advice, but all I had to do was look at the top of the monitor to see it plainly stated  :lol
