For most people the sky is the limit.  For a pilot the sky is home.

Would you really like driving with 2 computer screen outside of your car?

Yup, cos it wouldn't be long before haxxors found a way to change your displayed registration on the fly and then everyone can ignore speed cameras and never pay to fill up the fuel tank ever again.

I can see the police report now "APB on a blue Ford wossname with the registration plate: UPYRSPIGS....and CANTFINDME.....and HAXXORSRULE on a rotating frequency."

Is there any government mandated device that supports 'sponsors' today?

I can't think of any.

The ramifications of the government receiving advertising dollars from public and private oganizations is massive.

In the not-too distant future..

"Chase T. Ambulance.. Attourney at Law"  plastered on Police Cruisers.. Right below "Slim's Bail Bonds.. 24 hour service:"

In your local courthouse at a capital crimes trial:  "This verdict brought to you by... Slab 'em and Sons Mortuary.. for your final needs"

Nope.. I don't think this would be a good precedent to set..

Normally, I'd agree. But this is California. Not necessarily the home of stupid people, but certainly stupid politicians.

If you've lived here long enough, you'd know better than to ask that.  Stay tuned.

Our dimwitted government is not as easy to explain as "well it must of been the dimwits that voted for them".  Learning about the agricultural makeup of our state is probabley the first step to getting an idea.  I think it's now like 5 or 6 large farms/families that own over 50% of the state's acreage via farm and grazing land, so that's a lot of sway in the legislature and over water/resource rights.  If you were to draw the political lines based on population and nothing but people then we are mostly democratic, if you want to tip the scales though conservatives own well over half the land and resource rights associated with them, then again to tip the scale in yet another direction you have to give weight to the multiple liberal-cultural and media centers of the world found in our state and the huge revenues they generate and bring in to make our melting pot even more intricate.

California's political diversity and problems is also what probabley makes us one of the richest states in the world.
