We don't have news anymore..... just entertainment shows.

Agreed.

That being said. After watching some of the more recent footage of the leak. I can think of a few things just off the top of my head that would slow if not outright stop the leak even at a mile down.

The larger problem probably is you have a bunch of engineers who dont think any idea that isnt theirs is a good one.

This is a plumbing problem. They (engineers)are probobly also trying to way over think it and come up with a solution 100 times more complex then it needs to be just like when they design something.

This kind of stuff makes it to the TV news of a major station in your country?  :huh

That's starts to explain a lot...  :uhoh :bolt:

I know, Lusche, I know. That's why I don't watch much TV anymore.

How?  It would blow apart, not loosen to allow a plate to be slid in as in his video.  It is a completely different scale of forces at work.

I am sure that they can make or have a high tension steel plat that can take that kind of forces.  The answer to stop that leak is at that joint just below the open end.  The are just making harder than what it should be.

to insert that plate in between 2 pieces of very large pipe, all the while there is how many psi of pressure behind that oil? then do to it a mile below the ocean surface, with robotic vehicles.

 it doesn't seem very feasible.

Usually they would totally remove the malfunctioning valve by unbolting it and the bolting a new valve (that is open) on, then close the valve.

This would work if the casing bowl and the malfunctioning BOP`s were still in position.

I have not seen any pictures of the BOP stack which leads me to believe that the casing has actually moved up out of the borehole some.

(if this is the case then they can not kill the hole by restricting the flow coming out of the casing)

If this is the case then the only way of killing it is to enter the bore hole either by reentering the original borehole or by directional drilling into the borehole downhole

The plate could work if (smaller) holes were drilled further upstream of the oil pipe to relieve some of the pressure.

Not a great idea, but that's about all i've got atm.  :o
