Epic 1vs 1 in WW1 Camels
« on: June 23, 2010, 11:05:06 AM »
Hi, just thought i would make a positive post here as these boards are used allot to post of the negative side of things, me included there...

It was a sunny afternoon in the WW1 dogfight arena, i started out in a DR1 which i never fly, i ran into WormZ1la in a Camel, we had a couple fights, but with me in a Dr1 and him in a Camel i had the advantage, so i switched back to a Camel, we had a few fights, he won most, i a couple, he is a very good pilot...

well, we had 1 battle in particular, there was a spectater or 2, we were both in Camels, we engaged and fought a see saw battle that seemed to go on for 10 to 15 Min's, i think our spectater ran out of fuel watching, he was on my 6, then i on his, he on mine, me on his, back and forth, turning, twisting, it was an awesome fight, WormZ bested me in this one but i gotta say, losing like that was not only an honour, it was exhilarating, worth the months fee in that battle alone, my hats off to ya WormZ, i had a blast that day

hope to see more pilots and plane diversity in the future

Worm is damned good and fun as heck to play the game with.  AKraven, Meandog and Ehre are a couple of guys that are damned near undefeatable in there and great sports as well.

There is definately a good side to the smaller community there.

It has also been a good thing seeing some of these guys saddle up in something other than the Dr1

There has been more diversity in the arena lately...more trying the camel for sure.  Good to see.

Next step...maybe a few more people steal your old ride ASP and use it effectively in turn fights.  Hard to hit anything with that single gun, but it flies nicely.

The level of flying is getting very good in the arena.  Only downside is the steep learning curve for anyone new to these planes.  But if the arena stays cheerful...as it is.  They just might stick around.

Those times when there are no experienced pilots on the other side are great opportunities to get in your worst ride...each party can benefit, and it usually proves to be a lot of fun.

Not getting much time to fly at the moment, what with working shift, and packing up house etc. That said, last time I was in ww1, had a few really nice fights with SCTusk, Death and a couple of others. These guys are fun to fly with and against (well, not so much against, I must weigh at least an extra couple of tons from all the lead in my backside  :D)

I will be back online more once I get time and this real life thing moves back into the dark where it belongs

I'm the worst pilot ingame ya know!!!

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

Man, I gotta get back in the saddle and fly again.  :cry :cry

Guys, y'all gotta post more WW1 pics, vids and stories, so I can live vicariously through your efforts.

Does this mean that there are a lot of Camels flying around that I need to shoot at?

I'm amazed at anyone who can keep the camel in the air let alone maneuver behind someone and get a kill.  I fly it occasionally in the TA and more often than not I lose control and smash into the ground.  In the rare cases that doesn't occur I find keeping the nose from swinging left and right is a full time job in of itself and I can't keep it steady long enough to hit what I'm shooting at.

I find my best success (so far) in the F1 is when I use it in the vertical against the Dr1.  It has a great ability (when nose up) to do a 180 to the right and down that is equal to that of the Dr1, if not a bit smoother and more predicable.  The trick of course is being sure you are flying on top of the fight as you enter it but not by too much.  A few hundred feet....200 maybe 250.  Also, judging the energy state of the Dr1 correctly is essential.  It needs to be about pooped out just before you reverse on top.  At least Ive been playing with this attack the past few weeks.  When it works, it tends to work well.
