Why I Like How HTC Does Business
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:08:14 AM »
I've been here for a couple years, and have no plans to leave.  With the closing of Fighter Aces's doors, the influx of many of their community and the tales and comments regarding all the other WWII options out there, I thought I'd see for myself what all the other games were like.

Well, I'm not going to give my CC information just to download and try those other products for a "free" 14-day on-line trial.  Forcing a potential client to opt-out at the end of the "free trial period" to keep from being charged the monthly subscription fee is, in my opinion, ass-backwards.

HTC got it right...give potential clients a totally free download and free unlimited on-line access for 14 days.  After the free trial, further access to the on-line experience is blocked until the client subscribes, at which time CC information is registered.

Not having to give out banking information to try a new game is one of the deciding factors for me and is why I even bothered to give Aces High II a try.  Another reason is the activity on the BBS and the frequent participation of the Staff here.

WTG HTC - keep it up guys.   :salute

Full access. Soon after I downloaded the game I went to the MA. I didn't know anything about how to land, where or how to select ord, fuel or anything yet. I grabbed a P51 and took off. It was pitch black in the arena and I overheard 2 German guys talking to each other! I was hooked from that very moment.
I had never played any online game. Hell,I just bought a computer not a month before. But I knew this was something special for me to be able to fly with and against people from other countries  :x
I went back to the TA and started listening and reading everything I could to be able to shoot someone down.

So yeah, if not for the full access to the main arena I probably would of given up because the game was extremely complicated. And I didn't want to put that much effort in to play against kids. But these are grown men AND they're German and British in there too!

That was May of 2006 and I've loved and hated every second of it since  :aok

Actually i don't think it was Chistmas Eve. Didn't it get dark quite often during AH1? I seems to remember a lot of times when it'd get dark.

Absolutely. I always pass on the opt-out free trials.  HTC's approach is not only more ethical but it is also better business.  Likewise, their service is top-notch.  Doubly so for such a small company.

Yes it did but the whining reached a fever pitch and HT got rid of it.  The only time there's been total darkness in AHII has been on Christmas Eves.

Does anyone remember when AHII was launched?
