Are there any rockets that can kill tanks
« on: June 25, 2010, 05:11:42 PM »
What rockets can kill tanks with one rocket hit?

If not, how many rocket hits does it take.

I wish there was some kind of "damage table" to look up various damage percentages to fig out what it takes to kill tanks in planes.

The PB-1 (Panzerblitz 1) carried by the FW 190F-8. It's a dedicated anti-tank weapon with a hollow-charge warhead.

I've killed a lot of Panzers, Wirbles, Ostis and Shermans using salvo 3 from an F6F-5.  By that I mean a one pass clean kill.

The 190F-8 can do the same thing with a single rocket but it's harder to aim IMO.

T-34's and Tigers are much tougher but I have killed T-34's with rockets. They take several passes, need everything you've got and even then the prospect is still iffy.  You're more likey to track or turret them.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Am I missing a list about what rockets are anti-tank, anti-air, etc?  I didn't see it anywhere on the trainers site.  I didn't realize until just a few weeks ago that they were actually modeled different.  Any help would be appreciated.

PB 1 (FW 190F-8) are the only dedicated anti-tank rockets (works also like any conventional HE rocket vs objects)
WGR 21 (several German planes) are the only dedicated anti-air rockets (with a timed fuze, but works also as HE vs objects)

All other are general purpose HE rockets.

Simple enough, thanks.

and that's how the "no trolling to get Lusche to make a graph, chart, or pie chart" posting rule was created on the AH bbs, AKA: see rule #16     :rofl

As lusche said the pb-1 is the only rocket in game designed for armour... The 5" rockets are usless as far as I am concerned against armour.. I have seen 5" rockets actually bounce off tigers I have hit in game although it has been awhile since I have seen that... Do not no if that has been remodeled.. Baldy says he has killed heavy armour with the 5" rocket "panzer" I am sure with a real steep AOA on top of the turret it is possible.. If I really wanted to kill armour with rockets I would bring the 190f-8 with 12 pb-1's although they are hard to aim..

Agent these sights will help with the 190F8 rockets if you're interested (btw I turn the the alpha way down so they are barely visible). I come in low and fast (325+) and I fire at about 400 yards, a single Pb-1 will kill any tank.

Thanks.

I think rockets are cool. Just seem more fun to blow watermelon up with them.

I will give the sights a try

Thanks to rest of you guys for the help

A8Moray gave me quite a shock.  Enough that I wanted to pick his brain on this bird and it's ordnance.  He 1 rocket killed my Firefly.  I was quite impressed!  Hopefully he will come along and dish some info for ya Agent.

Agent,Mr Baumer was kind enough to make me a couple of his rocket sights. :aok

I've used them with other rockets also, his box sights work well with the british rockets on the mossie and tiffie.

TBH,I havent used them much with the ingame HVAR's but I dont see why they wouldnt work just aswell with them.

If you try them out in the TA and take advantage of the LCG you'll quickly learn which angles and speeds work best.

Try his PB1 runs in the TA and you'll see at around 325 or so the tank sits nicely in the box, just remember to put the tank in the proper box for the firing order.

Also I have found it takes a lot of practice w/ air to air, watching your speed, diving, climbing converging head-on, or chasing all extend or shorten the firing range. I've consistently killed bombers head on by firing 2.5-3.5k depending, diving fast behind 1.5-2K with a lead like duck hunting, or cruising straight behind at 1K aiming 30-40 feet overhead. The pilot is almost always looking at the ground or sea for flak! Har! Boom! What the heck was that?!  :neener:
