I am all 3.  :rofl I salute the guy before my chute opens even, hoping that he looses SA while typing his response and fails to land my kill  :D  Just to make sure, I try to keep him engaged on Ch. 200 for as long as possible describing my critical error (meanwhile on country channel I am broadcasting Grizz and Kappa's location  :devil ).

After all ... I am the geek that sits on the runway for 15 minutes waiting for you to loose your pilot wound battle so I can then land your kill  :neener:

Nice post Mechanic  :aok

And the other night in the AvA I thought you were just a real nice guy.  Boy Howdy see if I give you the time of day before I shoot you in you chute.  Luv ya man.

and your reply is a perfect example of a typical AH forum mentality, which dictates that not only do you have to make your point, but you feel obliged to chuck in an ad-hominem attack.

see how I managed to make my point there without feeling the need to personally insult you?
LOL... nice shot. But you did use an ad hominem tu quoque as well as a personal insult.

Furthermore I don't believe "typical AH forum mentality" is as you illustrated. I nearly made the same error when typing my dig at Sonicblu.

I don't know Bat ... 1 & 2 are the same animal from what I can see.

Anyone, who after losing a fight, feels the need to come onto 200 and piss and moan (excuse/complain) for all the world to see screams ... "I know I suck (or sucked at that moment) but I can't accept that fact and I need to find blame elsewhere so that I don't feel inferior" ... and the "inferiority" is usually in their own mind. They must think that they guy that just killed them is going to broadcast over 200 ... "Hey I just killed s0&s0 and HE SUCKS" ... before they can get their "excuse" broadcast for all to see.

Here is a perfect example from the "Turny birdys...." thread ...

My experience is:

being set upon by a typhoon, pony, k4, 38 and a hurricane or brewster. You can't extend or run for that matter, vertical is out (usually for me) so you start a few turns to make the faster aircraft overshoot and try to cut corners for advantage. Just as you think you may have a chance to turn the 2 or 3v1 in your favor here comes the brewster... now you're proper *#$ed. He catches you mid turn and poof, back to the tower. The brewster pilot thinks he's gods gift to pixel pilot land cause he's killed a much lower eny aircraft and youre half a second from a monitor replacement trip   :cry

Did the Brewster pilot come on 200 and proclaim that he was "god's gift" or was it only in Jappa's mind and that is what causes his angst ?

I can't tell you how many times I have killed people with ease and never once did I sit back in my chair and proclaim loudly (either internally or externally) ... "WOW ... that guy just plain sucks" ... it's usually ... "WOW ... that guy must be new, I hope he gets back up and tries again and this time I will let the fight progress so he can get some good stick time going round and round".

I have been around now for 8 years, and I have done my fair share of killing, and I have also done my fair share of dying and I can say that I have NEVER complained/moaned on 200 about getting killed.

I have no one to blame but myself.

1 v 1 ... I blew the opening, I blew a subsequent merge, I took a poor shot and left my knickers down 'round my ankles ... etc

1 v multi ... I made the decision to mix it up, my SA failed, I picked the wrong kill sequence, I didn't kill my target fast enough ... etc.

That's exactly what happened to me yesterday, I shot down a new guy and felt bad about it.
I engaged him expecting a solid response since he was alone and thought he would be a more experienced pilot, I shot him down quickly and for that moment actually felt terrible about it, he didn't have a chance.  He obviously was new, and to be honest with you, probably had more man sack than most to be out by himself far from anyone to help him, I had alot of respect for him for that and to at least be trying to learn something on his own.
We went at it several more times and chased him around without shooting him, I got a <S> and hopefully a future friend and the satisfaction that one day he can have the confidence to hold his own.

I think most of us eventually get around to step 3: Acceptance, it's just a matter of how long it takes us to get there. :)  It's either step 3: Acceptance, or Step 3: Cancel account, isn't it?

For me, squad vox occasionally gets an earful, the wife's jumped more than once when someone made me do something particularly stupid, but generally I get to the accept part of it within seconds.

Nobody forces me to go in at lower alt, or outnumbered, or in an area where I know people who manhandle me are operating.  It all comes down to the choices I make cause me to get killed.

I generally don't speak on 200 or PMs a lot, as I rarely get into 1V1s.  I much prefer to be in a group looking to fight another group.  Usually when I get a kill, I'm too busy to put out a <S> as there's usually another plane inbound to me.

BINGO ... GIVE THIS MAN A CIGAR !!!

I had a similar experience years ago with a new guy ... his callsign ... Dedalos.

Yeah ... he is still a jerk, but he sure can fight ... ;)

Good point ... there are some that can progress from 1/2 to 3 ... and then are are some that never will.

"Excuses" didn't fly with my Dad, with him being a member of the "Long Gray Line".

I learned at a very young age that it's never the fault of someone else or something that you failed ... the blame lies solely with you and usually due to a lack of effort.
