In game mic transmissions
« on: June 27, 2010, 11:14:15 PM »
My in game mic transmissions have stopped working on squad and range channel.  When I transmit on squad all that comes through is the beep. I've checked all the obvious, i.e. mic not muted, windows and in game volumes turned up all the way.  My squad uses teamspeak and that is working perfectly.  I have been using a desktop mic and the speakers for quite a while and then this issue popped up.  My headset/mic produces the same results.  I've not intentionally changed anything in the computer settings or AH.  Any ideas?  Thanks.  :salute

If you have the commands mapped on your joystick, you have to make sure you are playing the correct control mode. Otherwise use T or F12. Hope this helped.

This has happened to me during updates/patches before.

try tuning to yourself and see if you can hear yourself. i.e. Put your gameid in the VOX and then press T and try to talk.

Thanks guys.  I failed to mention in the first post that I had tuned to my self and got the same results; i.e., just a beep on tuned squad channel and nothing on range.  With both, the appropriate channel highlights when I depress one of the buttons to transmit.  I've got a G940 and have the range and tunable programmed properly on two of the stick buttons.  Also, trying to transmit with T or F12 produces the same results.  This seemed to start around time of the last update but I can't say for sure. I've tried with two different desktop mics and a headset/boom mic; all three with the same results.  So, it seems that hardware is not the problem.  I'm at a loss.  With no intentional changes to anything in game or the computer, this issue just popped up one day.  :frown: Did the last update incorporate the Miles Sound System?  If so, could that be a factor?  This has to be something simple (I hope).....the search is on.

In your Sound and Audio Devices menu, is your Mic configured and is the "boost" button checked?  I've always found I need the boost enabled to hear anything from my mics.

In game, have you tried resetting your vox settings?

".resetv 1"
".resetv 2"
".resetv 3" ?

The above dot commands have worked for me in the past, hopefully this helps.

I've got Windows 7 on the computer. None of my sound menus show a "boost" button, but all the volumes are at 100%.  I'm assuming the dot commands are entered in the radio text box, correct?

That's correct, in your radio box just type in the three dot commands one at a time.  You should see a message like "vox system reinitializing" or something to that nature after each of the commands.  Hope it helps.

Yeah, lothmog, that appears to have solved the problem.  Thanks much sir!  :aok  After typing all three in, squad channel started working normally.  Haven't got a radio check reply on range yet.  But, I assume it works also.  Thanks again for the help.  :salute

Puma, in Windows 7 mic boost setting should be under control panel > hardware and sound > manage audio devices > microphone > properties > levels.

Thanks Gyrene!  I have gone into that menu and have my mic volume maxed out.  But, I don't have a "Microphone boost" button like yours.  My computer has W7 home premium 64 bit.

There is a Creative SB sound card on the computer and the mic volume is also maxed out on that control panel.  I've since tried the "resetv 1, 2, and 3" previously suggested and that has restored my in game comms, although my mic transmissions are somewhat low according to a squaddie.  I'm at a loss as to why my W7 doesn't have a mic boost button.  Thanks for your help!  :salute

I've had this same problem. It is the SB X-Fi board that is causing the 'no microphone' or 'boost'.  Creative must think their stuff doesn't need it  :uhoh

Just tried the "GodMode".  It's a great option to consolidate all the control panel stuff.  But, when I go into the sound section, still no "mic boost" selection.  It may be that the creative SB sound card preempts that option.  Has anyone else with the same sound card come up with different results?  Thanks!  :salute

Are you using an actual Soundblaster driver or the one WHQL driver from Microsoft?

New drivers for some cards

I also did a search for new Win7 drivers for other X-Fi cards and there seems to be a bunch, so check if there is something new for yours.
