question about LIVEMAIL
« on: June 28, 2010, 05:37:20 PM »
OK..lets see if I can explain this...

I wasnt recieving emails and someone who sent me an email, told me that my email account was full( which I have through a bank)..It said amount exceeded QUOTA FULL..

I called the bank, and they told me the problem was that livemail does not purge OLD emails or something along those lines..she sent me to their EMAIL server,at least I believe thats where I was,and got I rid of a bunch of OLD emails..OK,so now I am recieving emails again..

Is their a way for this to not happen again??So when I delete an email from my @....bank.com email,it is GONE from livemail???

There should be a setting on your email software "purge messages from server when read" or something like that.

I use Thunderbird and here there is a checkbox in the server settings for "leave messages on server" so in my case it is unchecked.

Hope this helps

What email client are you using? Outlook, Thunderbird, Outlook Express, Eudora, Opera, Pegasus Mail, Live mail...etc.

Unless you're accessing your email account via web interface the way you would Yahoo or Gmail, you are using some sort of client program.

Never heard of Stalker, sounds like a spam blocker or something.

Gyrene, since Win7 does not come with an email application, you can download what's called "livemail" from microsoft... basically it's their 'new' version of outlook express.  I have no idea what this 'stalker' software thing is about unless their name is on the splash screen for some reason for livemail <shrug>.  I've never installed it... just installed Thunderbird instead and have no problems.

LOL...I read Falcon's post 3 times before I replied and still missed his reference to "livemail".

In that case if Falcon is using a POP3 interface to connect, there should be an advanced setting to "empty deleted items on exit" or he is going to have to configure Livemail to download all email items to his system without leaving a copy on the server.

Seems like a lot of people have had similar issues with Livemail, mostly Vista but some Win7. Figures.

Missed the title of the thread too?

Do you have access to the server directly?  IE can you log in and check your mail without using Livemail?  If you can, the setting can be changed there too.

Live Mail does pull the actual email off the server but you have to go to your online/webmail portion of the email server to change the setting to eliminate those messages from the server. At least with my AT&T email that is what I had to do.
