How to change IRQ's in win 2k
« on: October 18, 2001, 09:53:00 AM »
SKuzzy when I look at my device manager in win 2k this is what I see on IRQ 9.  My modem, my video card, my sound card, AMD 756 PCI to USB Open host contoller, ACPI compliant system.  I do not have ACPI enabled in Bios, I have tried removing and reinstalling the devices, and at first it does assign a new IRQ to some but when I install the last one it switches them all to IRQ 9 again.  Anyway around this to get them to a different IRQ setting?  I am thinking this might be the reason why I cannot fly .  It all started with the US robotics modem I installed.

I'd say you DO have acpi installed.

Not having it enabled in bios doesn't matter. It seems that during the installation W2k detected that your system is ACPI compliant and loaded the drivers.

See other w2k + irq related discussions here, you'll find instructions how to get rid of ACPI. If reinstall scares you, least you can do is to try to move the modem to another slot in the computer.
