El one-o) Anyone know where that thread was about eliminating stuff "permanently" from the start box of ME.  NOT how to shut stuff down after each reboot.

El two-o) Any info on the ATI 32meg Expert 2000 Vid card, how's it work's with AH. AGAIN please I am not looking for advice on getting something else just stats or specs on this particular card running AH, any hints or tweaks?

El Three-o) What is the minimum start box stuff you can run ME with, when all else is shut down?  98SE, will run with explorer and systray only running, Is the same true of ME or is there something(s) other that are required?

TIA

To control what is loading on startup, go to the Start menu, choose Run, and in the text field type "msconfig" without the quotes.  Hit enter.  The right-hand tab is the Startup tab, and it will contain a line and a check box for everything that starts at boot time, no matter how or where it gets started from.  Un-check things that you don't want one at a time, then reboot and check your machine over.  Do this until you get it down to something pretty minimal.

WinMe is the same as 98 in this regard, meaning it only really needs explorer to run, and you can leave systray running as well.  Kill the rest before you play if you are having problems.  Normally the nasty ones are virus scanners and ad clients, so make sure those either don't load on startup, or you kill 'em before you plane.

Evil little sneaky bastige programs that sometimes get installed without your knowledge.  Their purpose is to download advertising banners and such from the internet for display in programs like PkZip, for example.

If you want to check for and remove most spyware, ad clients, and other sneaky badness, you can get a free software package that will do it here:  http://www.lavasoft.de/aaw/   This AdAware does a great job, and has been the best tool I've tried to remove this kind of sneaky crap.
