Dar Bar Glitch?

I figured that dar bar height was still set at 500ft, but then I heard reports that several of these cons were well over 1k (and upwards of over 10k).  Any ideas?

Just tonight, we tried a noe raid, everyone was at water level, no dar bar showing, cons said on 200 we see your dots coming, sorry no film or screenshots

This might have something to do with it....

We're using some new radar settings for the main arenas.

The radar deck has been lowered to 65 feet above ground
level and will require challenging nap of the earth
flying to stay below radar.

Tower based radar range has been increased to 20 miles.
You can view the radar distances right clicking on the
clipboard map and selecting Radar from the display
settings menu.

Incidentally the increase in range to "20 miles" I would assume is a radius of 20 miles.

The previous radius was 12.5 statute miles resulting in a 25 mile (132000 foot) diameter ring...

Unless I am missing something...

I think what he is saying,is what I believe I have also seen,and that is...many cons over the level which darbar will shows,yet no darbar is showing...

I dug a little deeper into this because that is what I do for fun...

The program has four arena settings that can have an effect on what you witnessed/experienced:

Tower Based Radar Range
Tower Based Radar Altitude
Sector Counter Range
Sector Counter Alt

My guess is this is NOT A BUG...rather its an errant setting on the arena table

According to the HTC announcement...they increased the Radar Range and decreased the 'Radar Deck'...

If you tell me which of the two countries you were flying for (I initially assume you were a rook), I could definitevly deduce the table setting error...

What it looks like to me, is that though they increased Tower Based Radar Range, they did not increase the Sector Counter Range to match...

If you look at the red dots...they are mostly at the periphery of the new 40 mile ring...and clearly showing on dar but not sector...

That leads me to conclude that though Tower Range had been increased...Sector Counter Range had not...

Traditionally Tower and Sector have always been the same in MA setups...

Bet ya that is it...

The settings are independent in as much that sector and dar are different...

However their is a relationship between alt and range within the types...

That is to say that both conditions must be true to show...

The plane must be above this 'altitude' and within this 'range' to get a print...

If you look at his picture...they are printing on the dot dar side of things...but not the sector side of things...

The logical conclusion is that their is a disparity between dot dar printing and sector range marking...that being the sector range thing is not congruent with the dot dar thing...

Seeing as they just changed arena wide dot dar settings...the next logical conclusions is to assume they did not change the congruent counterparts for sector counters...

We all assume that dot dar and sector counters are somehow part of the same animal...they are not...

They are wholly independent of one another...thus NOT A BUG

An arena setting error on the part of HTC as they experiment with new settings...

I have encountered cons at altitude (15k) within their own radar ring but no darbar showing in the sector (darbar popped when I got close and engaged), and have seen cons (red dots) within our (Bish) radar ring with no darbar showing in the sector.  Something seems askew.

Dar bar is BAD....was just up at 18k, con on my 12:00 he showed NO DAR BAR.....LW Orange waht ever map is there now 07/19/10

Dar is at 65 feet, so why is it that these cons are at 1000 feet not showing dar bar. With the new radar set up they should have shown a dar bar as soon as they launched from cv.

Flying with my squaddies across two sectors the other night.  Me and Redwing just entered the forward sector with no darbar, then a small darbar pops up and seconds later we run into five 18K+ cons. So these guys had flown a whole sector gaining altitude the whole time and no darbar was visible at all. 

Another thing was when we called it out on channel the other guys in the back sector still didn't see a darbar at all in our sector until about a minute later.

It seems like a bug, since the point of the darbar is to tell you where the cons are so you can find a fight. 

On the other hand dot dar seems to be working perfectly.  Every time I get in a fight inside a ring a whole bunch of guys are showing up to clean up the survivors...

I have noticed this too..   Darbar showed one, then 5 cons bounced me...
