Friendly Tank Icons
« on: June 29, 2010, 05:05:45 PM »
I think that when you scroll through the different icon types and get to the setting that shows what friendlies are driving/flying that it should show which version of the m4 they are in.
For example the icon could say:

M4-75

M4-76

Could just leave it as M4 for the firefly as they are rarely seen now and you would instantly know when it didn't have a number it was a firefly.

Um... I'm not so sure.  Remember that the icons we have now are pure luxury.  In the real deal, the only way you'd know where your squadron mate was by where they told you they were.  Be it tank, m3, Spitfire, B170, PT boat, etc.  If you were directed by your CO or other superior to take up a position 300 yards echelon right, you did your best to make it 300 yards and no more no less.

On that note, I say that the icons identifying enemy aircraft is too giving.  I say simply show it FTR, BMR, or GV until a much closer visual distance is obtained.  Sure, keep it at 6000 yards for the basic red icon (FTR, BMR, or GV), then at 3000 yards for aircraft show the actual model like we currently are able to do at 6000 yards.  For GV's, I'm thinking 1000 yards show the actual model, instead of the current 1500 yards.  Make those aircraft get close like they had to in the real deal.

But we already have this feature for all the planes. You can easily see the exact model the friendly is flying.
tis why i suggested it for the M4's also.

Well loon, the problem is that 1000yds is within the effective firing range of the wirb, osti, and its on the edge of the M16's, but still in it. 1500yds is more at the edge of effective range for wirbs and ostis (excluding those that can snipe aircraft flying at 2500ft). The gunners would be quick to jump on this, and will let a/c get close before opening fire.

Aside from that, I say yes.

A. What difference does it make?

B. Ask them?

They are "friendly", right?

Really?
 :huh

If they don't know how to type or use their mics, do you think tehy would have a clue that there even is a difference between Shermans or T-34s?

A. Because I'm nosy like that and i like to know what the people around me are in. And I like to check when I'm in the tower to get a feel for the situation.

B. Can't ask them from tower unless I PM them(which would just annoy them) or throw it out on country.

As i stated before it already implemented for the planes so i ask for it to be used for GV's to.

Kinda like flying you wanna know if that 190 is a 190-A8 or a 190-D9 or is that 109 a 109-K4 or a 109-F4?

Same for gvs there's a difference between a M4 75 and a Firefly.

Will do. And I will change it to if in vehicle show both name and type on that options. In air would be to cluttered.
