V4 or V5 series ? and comp speed

Just curious if anyone running a 350mhz or close computer has any frame rate problems using a Voodoo 4 or 5 series card.  

Also Curious what your average frame rates are.  I have an amdk2 350mhz and wondered what to expect if I bought one of the cards.

you will get poor frame rates in ah with that processor no matter what vid card you use , the amd k62 is poor in the floating point decimal calculations dept. and in any case 350 is just to slow for this game , mayby you can salvage it for a while by getting a new amd k62+ 550 ( will only work in some boards as it is the 18 micron process and requires a lower voltage that the original 25 one.)

I get decent and flyable frame rates now.  The only problems I have are in smoke while in zoom for the pnzr.  Just curious to any increase from what I get now.

Tis doubtful u'd see any increase wingnut as your cpu is the bottleneck , not the vid card

U could likely spend the same $$ on a cpu and mobo that would give u a larger increase than replacin the vid card in your current sys

Ah, I can finally boast I am faster than someone.  

Well, barely.

Im running a AMD K62-400 w/ 128mb RAM and a AGP Voodoo 3 3000.  As Skurj says, the bottle neck is the CPU.  Im pondering going to a 1ghz Athlon around January since I have an Athlon at work and love it.  Intels are ok, I just happen to be on an AMD kick and like them better for some reason.

As for the video, smoke is my enemy.  I get 7 to 10 FPS with clutter on for most of my flying.  I see some higher numbers but I credit that to the wind blowing outside.  If you turn clutter off, the FPS goes up.

Some have posted some really nice pics with the Voodoo 5 and the fsaa stuff.  But I'm hestitant to buy another voodoo that every other card passes in performance and price within weeks of its release.

Im eyeing the ATI Radeon and a few others I have seen reviewed favorably at ZDNet and CNet.  

Sorry, 350 will be slow but playable.

Very true.. the AMD K6/2 is a horrible chip to have for the game.. I switched from the amd 350 chip to an intel pII 350 chip and got an increase of 20+fps.. I also have a Diamond Stealth extreme vid card and I now get anywhere from 36-43 fps during most conditions and only problems are with smoke.

350 is fine for this game especially if you have at least 128mgs of ram and a decent vid card.

yeah man , get a 1gihz from ebay for 290 or so (+shipping)then get one of them ausus boards with the p3x850 on it from Fry's, sell the 850 for 200 on ebay then clip the 1g on the board and rock with it. I just got another 1 ghz for a trade of a German fighter pilots wings my dad got off a dead kraut in the war, and the $680 I got for the kill chalks from that same plane , the kraut had 19 kills on his tail canvas sheet gonna build me another gaming system to fly by. Oh yeah man , I got the krauts flight papers and some other medals if anyone wants to barter for some computer parts.
