Odd.. I'm getting told every day on Knight country channel that it's always Rook s & Bish  against us, and that they almost never fight against each other :)
Feces rolls downhill :lol I lay off horded countries, if for no other reason, than the closer you get to their capitol, the more 262's come out

Well lusche, I often can't find a fight between the rooks and the knits. So I must content myself with killing bish in stagnating hoard fights.

They do have different engines, or you can just as easily say that a Fairey Battle has the same engine as the DeHaviland Hornet.

well ok if you want to be pedantic my car has a different engine from the next unit that came off the production line. I'm just saying they are pretty much the same engines, its not like the difference between a merlin v12 and an allison v12, or a hercules and a twin wasp...

No, it isn't like that.  The engines are clearly related, but what do you think would happen to the Fairey Battle's engine if you tried to get 2,000+ horses out of it like the Hornet's engines are producing?

The Merlin 61 engine in the Spitfire F.Mk IX had a maximum boost setting on 100 octane of +15lbs boost.  The Merlin 66 of the LF.Mk IX or the Merlin 70 of the HF.Mk IX had a maximum boost setting on 100 octane of +18lbs boost.

Obviously they are all Merlins, but the changes are greater than just different gears on the supercharger.

sry I have no idea about the battle and hornets engines.

sure the 266 and V-1650-7 were different engines, but like I said they are not different like the allison vs merlin v12s. depends on how close you define them to be to be the same. its like bmw's 330i and 335i engines - I'd say they are the same engine with different ecu maps and some plumbing. others would say they are different engines. :)

They are both Merlins, just from extreme ends of Merlin development.  Obviously the Merlin 61 is far, far closer to the Merlin 66 than those are to each other, but you can't just say they are the same engine and be accurate.

Exactly. Just because they share the same dimensions does not equate to the same engine.

mmmkay they are completely different engines for you guys, "pretty much the same" for me. guess we'll have to agree that we just have different definitions of same/different in this case.

It's like saying a 5.7L  in a chevy station wagon is the same as in a corvette. Same physical dimension very different performance.
