From this report, it's clear they don't really know what it was.  Could have been an idiot with fireworks, or a weapon, or something in-between.

if it was a missle, question is who has it, how they got it, and how they got it in America.

If a guy can walk across the border with a backpack full of dope, a rocket launcher slung over his shoulder shouldn't be that much of a problem either.

But that would all depends on what kind of rocket that was used.

I didn't hear about this one, I guess that's because I haven't seen the news lately. Pretty scarey though.

some model rockets can reach pretty damn high. my old physics teacher had a 1:4 Patriot Missile model, the engines were big.

Drive to the nearest major airport and make jihad, not a big stretch. I would rather this turn out to be a moron with a model rocket.

Im more inclined to a rocket, then an actual missle. I mean if my intention was to blow one up, I would have been damn near the airport, and a fairly large one to make sure I hit the largest target I could. This sounds more like a backyard rocket, that someone made. Just happened to be coincendence IMHO.
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

Sounds like a model rocket incident to me.  First of all, target was too small  to be a target for terrorist attack (commuter airliner?).  Second of all, target was too high to be attacked by MANPOD (Near its max range...motor would have burned out and pilot wouldn't see anything).  Thirdly, common sense?

It's 40 miles east of the airport.  Very stealthy.  Who would ever think to look that far away.

All I can think is LIBERTY, Texas --- Fourth of July --- Rocket

Coincidence?

I remember when they outlawed the little bottle rockets here because they were "too dangerous". I can buy the equivalent to a clusterbomb on the side of the highway now but none of those damn bottlerockets!!
