Is this how it works?
« on: March 05, 2001, 10:17:00 AM »
on line:  your FE receives a packet from the server and updates the position of a plane you are chasing > you shoot and see him light up > your FE sends a kill/damage message to the server > server transmits kill/ damage info to the other players FE and, if a kill, a kill message to the radio buffer ...?
If this is not how it works could someone who knows send me the sequence.

TIA

That sounds like it MrBill. HTC would have to comment for you to know for sure but those are the general steps and the right decription of what part of the system has what duty.

Just FYI, since the FE decides what to tell the server about what its player did, there is also anti-hack code built in to tell when people have made their FE more accurate, more lethal, higher performance, etc. If a person gets caught, they are banned for life as I understand it.

Yes I know about hacking the FE, thanks, but that is not what the question was for.
I have some ideas about packet regulation, that I am working, on and it depends on what does what when in the game.  It is useless to regulate packets if they are not in the proper sequence of events.  If I got something I think will work I would request a limited test from HTC, or most likely just send them the code and let them test it if they wished.  I am not about to mess with their game without permission.  I should have made that clear in the beginning.
