Fun last night in Orange
« on: July 05, 2010, 08:54:33 AM »
Thanks to the Knits (and the Rooks and Bish) for the fun in Orange last night.

I got to do most of my favorite things when playing AcesHigh.

We captured 3 airfields, 1 vh, 2 ports AND their coresponding CV's while never once did we hoard NOE, kill the FH/BH (except once as the troops were about to enter the maproom and everybody on range was givin' the guy a hard time for doing it) or any such "things".

I was somewhat disheartened that we didn't face much opposition for most of the capture, but it was all part of a "greater" plan to get a TankTown base back and was enjoyable none the less.

Then we lost 2 fields on our "mainland" which started a huuuuuuge fight recapturing the lost fields that lasted a good hour and a half.  Good stuff, lots of bad guys, and many kills to be had.  (not once did anybody suggest dropping the FH's there and that prolonged the fun for all)

I do so love a nice drawn out, well defended base capture.

Then, right about when we we close to capturing the base, the enemy launched a large mission that was spotted and many Knits scrambled and absolutely decimated the mission.  Myself and a few squaddies had just landed so we upped some 262's and had some great fun playing smack the hoard.

Ended the night in a Firefly closing in on an enemy Vbase and my worthy LTAR opponent JUST managed to get a round off from his Tiger as I blew him up also killing me.  (which was "fine" as it was a heck of a good shot by them)

I got to take bases, fight, tank, furball, capture real estate, and laugh it up the whole time with my squaddies and fellow Knits.

All in all a good 3-4 hours of fun.

(Edit:  I would bring up a few things I talked a well known player into doing but he swore me to secrecy.  He has a reputation to uphold after all...)

awwww come on NAME NAMES !!!!  :neener:

It's good to see the fun coming back into the game. My brother-in-law use to play years ago (MARK4) and was asking about the game yesterday. I told him of the recent changes and how the game seems to be changing back to the game of old where you could find fights in no matter which type of game play you like. We started talking about building him a new box to play the game on  :devil

I know I've been having more fun each time I log in and look forward to squeezing a bit more "play" time out of my schedule !!

Fun is as fun does..The dar changes and you really think that has miraculously changed how much fighting is all of a sudden going on?I dont think its that uncommon to see a post as lutes hit the BB's..While I understand you wanting to say it has been BAD in-game,as you have been bloviating about the last few months,I still go back to my original statement..Fun is as Fun does...The fun never left.. :D

I would add that this implies that
to play AH, as WMLute said, he
and others ppl need to have in AH more strong constrains
and by default.  But I also would understand how
and when missions, as WMlute has described, were not
possible with old settings!  :O

My squad took that airfield #165 on the Knight mainland last night that started a major fight that lasted for hours. I think every Knit in the arena was there trying to take it back. It was a very fun fight. Lute shot me down once I remember. I got shot down so many times, I lost count.  Since I am  a terrible fighter pilot, I decided to get in a tank. There were plenty of enemy tanks there as well. This was a great battle. It was still going on when I logged off last night. Base taking is still fun even with the radar changes. We just had to adjust our tactics to overcome them.

We stopped several NOE raids last night.  couple made it all the way to town when we found.  Only reason they didnt take it was fighters let our people fly by as we went goon hunting and they tried to kill town.  One of the NOE started a fight that lasted for well over an hour, was fun.  NOE raids have not been stopped, they just got lower.  only difference is now they kill dar first, which was the first hint we got about the noe's.

I don't know what time you flew at but I logged into Orange at 9pm est.  Bishops were getting ganged at 144 by the nits and 44 by the rooks.  On ch 200 a member of your squadron was arguing on ch 200 with a bish about how lousy he was for being shot down.  I consider that member a friend so I asked him why he would be taunting a bishop who was trying to hold off a horde???  He said the rooks had taken the center island...so i asked why he was hitting the bish instead of the rooks then especially since there was no rook/nit action and we were outnumbered.  He didn't answer that....

From a bish standpoint, last night was upping capped fields to try and hold off the hordes....at least between 9pm-10pm est...

So I am curious, with rooks owning the entire furball island/tt island and a ton of nit property.....which bases did you retake last night??? I am hoping it was rooks after i had logged off to try and enjoy my 4th a little less frustrated

Just  FYI,

A drunken Australian,
An American diagnosed with Bipolar,
A scouser
and an All action British Hero legend managed to lead the liberation of the TT isle for Bishops this morning.  They returned to the mess for tea and medals.   :rock

I do hope they didn't steam roll the rest as our shining example would have been a complete waste of time.  Sooner HT makes those TT airfields uncapturable the better.

... or if we're going to have a proper TT, many, many AAA batteries. flak towers maybe. puffy all over the place, auto 40/37/20 whatever like in the new cities just to reduce the gv griefing by attack planes and lancstukas.

then you can still take TT bases, but you have to use ... gvs! :D

You been here how long? Griping about a chess piece getting ganged is about as productive digging a foxhole with a saftey pin. You are given the option to log into the other arena,(where Im sure if you are getting ganged in one arena, your chesspiece is doing the ganging in the other). If that doesnt float your boat, do the unthinkable GASP!! and Ill say it SWITCH SIDES. Do that enough and you will see that no side is safe. Not even the po bishes.

I appreciate your nobility in caring for the underdog. Lets see how quickly you act when the bish pick on the evil rooks or nits when they do the ganging. Lay back, have fun. Every dog has its day here
