I need an admin's help.
« on: July 07, 2010, 05:48:56 PM »
So, asking in the help channel in game gets me no reply. Calling the contact phone number on the website gets no reply. Sending an email gets no reply. Asking for an admin in the 200 channel gets me mocked, insulted, belittled. I guess I'll try here.

My account name is redtiger88 and I want a refund of my subscription money, and my account closed please. I've only had this game a few days, I don't like it and I think it was falsely advertised. I have the right to my money back from a product I am not happy with.

A reply from an admin would be great.

First, most dont monitor "help" hannel in the main arenas, your best bet is to try asking for help in the "training arena"

Second, asking anything on "200" opens you to anyone who monitors that channel,so wisiwig,or what you see is what you get!

Third if you sent an email this weekend ,well it's a holiday where HTC is located so today would be the first working day.

Third,I'm sorry your not happy with things but if you haven't visited the Training Arena you've short changed yourself.

And last you could try contacting Billing at HTC and check to see the status of your account.

You can also close your own account through the Clipboard and then call HTC when they've opened back up for the holidays for a refund.

Out of curiosity, how did you feel this game was falsely advertised?

If you are using Hotmail/Yahoo email then you will not get a reply from us as those services treat our email as SPAM.  If you manage to get something from us, it will be in your SPAM folder.  It can take up to a week to get an email at those services due to how their SPAM policies.  We cannot alter their policies, nor can we make them deliver email if they chose not to.

Could also be your email was filtered out by our server.  Many things can trigger that.  Most of the time it is due to some attachment that should not be there (i.e. spyware, malware, XML scripts...).  Usually happens when people try embedding an animated GIF in their signature.  I can find out more details tomorrow.

We answer our email within 24 hours of receiving it, Monday through Friday.  If you send an email after 5:00pm CST on Friday, or Saturday, or Sunday, it will be answered first thing on the following Monday morning.  We answer our phones Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm CST (GMT -6).

You certainly can delete your account through the game.  If the hours of our phone service is not within the hours you can call us, then you may also PM us on the bulletin board.  Do not post your account login ID on the bulletin board as them anyone could access the account information.

If you are unhappy because you think you are not getting any help, we have numerous ways to help.  The bulletin board, the WEB site, the trainers and associated sites are all available to everyone.  The in-game "Help" channel depends on someone being on that channel at the time you are on.  It can be hit or miss.

did you read the fine print?   :)

Skuzzy gave you your reply you requested!  :aok

Also,
incase you missed it, HTC ( Aces high ) will not and does not charge your credit/debit card as soon as you sign up / log in to the game... unless you specifically PREPAY for either quarterly(3 months at a time ), semi-annually( 6 months at a time ), or annually subscriptions ( 12 months at a time )......

you will go at least 2 weeks ( 14 to 15 days ) to almost 30 days before you are charged anything otherwise

so if you are that unhappy and think that the game was falsely advertise, then just cancel your account before the "2 weeks Free" are up......

that simple........ if you over extended your 2 weeks free, then you might have been charged...... again must read those TOS pages.....

NOW- if you need help with anything from learning how to operate the game all the way thru to help setting up your computer ( provided your computer is capable of playing the game ----> can find minimal PC requirements on the Aces High Home Page )

then by all means post your problems here....... I am absolutely positive someone will help you in whatever matter you need help with......

Hmmm, only had the game a few days...and you were charged (were even ASKED for money)?  I remember just downloading the game, playing it offline for a while, then signing up without any credit card info to play online for a full two weeks before being prompted to subscribe.  You sure you're talking about Aces High and not something like Warbirds or WW2Online?

I don't think he'll be back on here... I'm sure HT has contacted him by email by now, or sorted out his mess one way or another...

IN the meantime, let's just let it go...

There is a special offer for first time players which is optional.  Some players have misunderstood that offer and signed up thinking they had to.

Unfortunately, since we switched to AT&T, they do not allow us to control our DNS records anymore.  Thus we wil never be able to be the qualified DNS server for our domain.  They keep changing thier DNS around and do not notify us when they do.  We would have to hire someone full time to keep up with those idiots.  All other ISP"s will gladly make record changes at ARIN to allow companies to be fully qualified for the IP block they use.  AT&T stated, quite frankly, no one can run DNS as well as they do and they are not going to allow anyone else to do it for any IP blocks they own.

AT&T used to pass-off the reverse lookup, for the IP to us, but when SBC bought them, that stopped.

The reason Hotmail/Yahoo/MSN and the like, treat us as spammers is due to players getting pissed off at us and then reporting we are spamming them.  Nothing we can do about it short of going into a legal battle with them as they will not listen to anything we have to say.

We can solve the problem for a week and then be blocked all over again.  Other things happen as well.  You would not believe how many porn sites my email address is registered with.  I get about 600 pieces of spam a day and it is escalating.

By the way, the email from the original poster was filtered by our server as it contains an active X script attached  to push advertising for Windows Live.

Skuzzy, this is moving somewhat off-topic but you might want to take a look at Cloudmark Spam filtering.  In our world, a single false positive for spam could jeopardize a relationship to the point that it could, or almost could, put us out of business.   For years, I refused to put any spam filtering on because of the false positives - it was better to have employees waste the time sorting them by eye.

Cloudmark has near zero false positives, and detection rates that are near to that of algo based spam detection.  (This is because the only way that an email get's marked as Spam is by the recipients - once enough trusted recipients mark it as as Spam, it's spam. Since actual emails to you won't be seen by others, there is a near zero chance of it getting filtered. )

I realize that the spam filtering you were discussing is happening on the other end, but if you are getting 600 a day, you might be looking for a better solution for yourself, too.

False positives happen.  It is rare for them to occur here.  The email, in question, contained an Active-X script.  I deliberately set the filters to block those emails as there is no reason any email should contain an ActiveX script.

More often than not, the user who sends it may not know it is there as it is usually the result of a virus/malware/spyware program.

We do not toss the emails.  We log them all.  In this case, I went in and removed the offending script, and put it back through the queue.  Howeve, when I scan the log, I skip over anything that has an ActiveX script attached.
