The Spitfire IXc did not exist. Just the Spitfire IX and the IXe.
They did not employ 4 cannon Spitfire IX. We've had this discussion way too many times. There was a single RAAF VIII that shows up in photos that was equipped with 4 cannons for intercepting high altitude Japanese Dinahs.
Th only operational 4 cannon Spitfires were used as ground attack birds and had the large tropical air filter as well under the nose. They were not air to air.
Whoever did that page hasn't much of a clue about Spits and their history. He's clearly writing it to fit his fantasies about four cannon Spits.
The C wing was a designation used on the Spitfire V as it had three wing types. The A wing which was the 8 303 mg bird. The B wing which had 2 20mm with 60 rounds each in drum mags and 4 303s. The C wing was the Universal Wing. It could house 8 303, 2 20mm and 4 303 or 4 20mm. Again, this was not used outside of the ground attack squadron in the MTO. One of the reasons beyond the weight was the inability to heat the outer cannon bay. This in itself made use in the ETO impossible and it just wasn't done.
And before someone says it. The Vc Spits sent to Malta with 4 cannon had two removed as soon as they got there to save weight, and improve performance.
