the electric windows were working fine apparently, and it could have had A/C, satnav and a stereo - theyre all on the options list

if it doesn't pass a safety inspection it's not a daily driver.

the roll cage, and lack of emergency brake will fail most street cars.

roll cage is fine in UK and I suspect most of europe. the handbrake - ok make that (with the race numbers) 2 strikes if they got pulled over. if thats the best you can come up with to be sniffy about this fantastic achievement I can only assume its because of the badge. meh.

how many people do you know that would drive that car every day in any weather? there are a few, but in reality, shuff is right.......she is no daily driver.

was just making a point. and i know everyone will drive a stock one(like what appears to be pictured below) in any weather.....although most us porsche owners won't bring their "baby" out in something like that........

Kinda reminds me of the "Rent-A-Wreck Nationals" a bunch of my friends did years ago. Rent a car from a rental company, slap on a nitrous get up, and go to the dragstrip for a night of fun. Come Saturday morning, take the car back to said rental company and get your  deposit back, that is unless you had a nitrous backfire, then it wasn't quite as simple.    It was pretty fun til people started getting carried away, which usually happens when you toss a bunch of rednecks,nitrous,cars and mass quantities of beer together.

What I meant with the FR500S is that u could buy a Mustang GT from the dealer and strip, add all stage 3 suspension/exaust from Ford Racing and get a FR500S. Off course the FR500 is not street legal, it's a spec car, it's made for racing only. But Ford could easily make one for similar publicity stunt. And any other brand out there with a sport model.

Again, there's a lot of cars out there where u can do the same stuff, as long as you have brakes that can handle racing. Now would u buy that Porsche? Heck no, u'd fear that the abuse of the race would not make the engine go past 10,000 miles

I love it when it snows - you get to play at safe speeds. last winter coming back from a football match halfway through the 80m journey it started snowing. hard. we got off the motorway and there was this really big, empty roundabout. I drive a fwd beater cus I park onstreet atm, so since I was driving my bros 330 m-sport i thought it would be rude to waste the opportunity.

me: *reaches for DCS button and disables traction control*
bro: err ... what are you doing?
me: dont worry man ... *starts scandi flick by turning left*
bro ... huh? ...
me: *flicks right again, lift, power on*
bro: ... aaaAAARRGGH ...
me: *looooong slide halfway round roundabout*
bro: ... silence ...
me: *lift and flick left to straighten up on exit*
bro: dont EVER do that again.

I should add......i'm not critisizing the car........only the fact that they try to pass it off as a daily driver in the condition it was raced in.

to me, a daily driver is like my stang was........every single day to and from work, to the airport to fly, to the r/c field loaded with airplanes, to the gf's house in philly, and all regardless of the weather. nothing special to do....get in, turn the key, and go. no extra maintenance.
 then go to the track, click off some 12 second passes(with the a/c running if it was hot enough), run the power window down to get my time slip, run the power window back up, park it in the pits, and go watch till they called our class again. at the end of the night, drive it home.

 THAT is a daily driver.

well you already know you can walk into any porsche dealership and order one - just like any other 911.

I could also add that it comes with the same standard 2yr unlimited mileage guarantee (extendible to 9yr and 125,000m) and 20,000m service intervals - just like any other 911.

I could also add that you get as standard electric windows, electric heated door mirrors, CD changer stereo, airbags, aircon, alarm system, tracker, ISOFIX child seat points on the passenger seat (lucky kid!) etc etc - just like any other 911.

I could also add that you can spec options for cupholders, garage door opener, cruise control, heated seats, DVD player, iPod interface, mobile phone interface, satnav, bluetooth, voice control etc etc - just like any other 911.

Just to get this straight, "200m" isn't TWO HUNDRED METERS, is it?  I'm assuming you mean TWO HUNDRED MILES, because 200 meters really wouldn't be all that impressive

All the guys in our H-Town Camaro Club drive to the track and a few of those are 1000 hp at the rear wheels. They just change to their smaller rims and hoosiers at the track. The factory P zeros on 22" rims don't have enough traction even though they are great tires.

We have some 800 hp cars too. Most of the higher horsepower cars are new camaros.

it's a brand of racing slick. i have them on my camaro, as i get better traction from them, than from goodyears.

on my mustang, i ran bf goodrich drag radials, and just before that car got totaled, i had switched to nitto drag radials.

 amazingly, those tires gave me better wet weather traction than "proper" street tires did, which is why i left them on there all the time.

Hydroplane aside that is about what I would expect, the soft compound of the drag radials grips the roads better in wet conditions.

(I wonder how many people would be surprised to hear I run 4.25 PSI in my Hoosiers?)
