I have blacked out, but not from flying.  I went right out to an unbelievable calmness and blackness, until I woke up.  LOL

Migraine aura I get.  It is the weirdest visual stuff in one's vision field and precursor to a 3 day migraine binge that is not fun.  After the 1st really bad episode, I found prescription meds not to get the migraine headache at least.  It is a frequency activity in the back part of the surface of the brain that like shimmers forward.  I actually enjoy watching the light show.

Playing Aces High and getting an ocular migraine aura, I actually can't see worth beans and everything blurs out for 30 minutes.  Then I am fine.  Once the aura starts, it plays itself through.  The frequency of the LCD screen does it.  I get auras more frequently playing Aces High.  If I am driving, I get off the road.  I worry about losing my driver's license.

Worst G-load I ever did was that "Mission Mars" ride to Epcot.  It has actually killed some people.  But I did not black out, though I sure got pukey, and $5 a cup coke!  My doctor gave me the ok to do it before hand.  Now that I am over age 50, those amusement parks rides I just watch, these days.

Guys experiencing what HiTech has, really flying due to health issues, I hope you are smart enough to get the OK by doing a flight physical.  I know a couple buddies that stroked, they lost their pilot's license because of theirs.  I should have been on BP meds, and after mine, have ever since.

From what I have read, blackout from flying is tunnel-vision.  That really does exist, I did it once on a bad drunk in my military years. LOL

Hi,

I wonder if they have a centrifuge available for civilian pilots for testing blackout threshold?

That is how they test Russian pilots 1st thing early before bothering spending all the time and money on a pilot, then find they can't handle the G-loads.  I saw that on one of the learning channels awhile ago.

re:

After I started blood pressure Meds dropped my G tolerance a bit.

Also found out extrema heat and sun effect can effect tolerance greatly.

You know you have pushed the edge a little to far when you release and all you can do for about 15 secs is hang on and fly level. And you a clueless which way you are headed.

Havn't tested my max in long time, did 7.5 in L39 dog fighting,  once with Bob Shaw we were finding the corner speed of my RV. Bloody bob is a short little guy and has a greet tolerances, he Kept us at 6g's  for about 45 secs of soda straw , my eyes finally went way black, but didn't g lock since he release shortly there after. Other wise 1 or 2 more secs I would lights out.

Same day we had lots of fun seeing who could loop from lowest starting speed. But not a lot of guys want to go up to find max G's so I don't get to push the edge that hard alone.

No- I've never noticed that personally though there are wide range of physiological factors and responses in play. Everyone's different.  One bud of mine was in peak physical shape and should've had everything going for him but could not take more than 4G before going niters even with proper technique. AH models blackout very well IMO. (Same for the "approach to stall" feel) I'm also a fan of the "blackout relapse" you often get in-game after unloading the aircraft. This is also pretty realistic and is when many people are performing "the funky chicken".  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GTSQCV9IIo (Remember this is a "best of" compilation and I believe they are trying 9G sans suits here if memory serves:)

As for redouts, never experienced one and don't plan on it.  The "red-colored visual fog" completely makes sense and I think it would be a great gameplay addition if players who routinely use high negative-G moves get rewarded with realistic consequences for rather unrealistic tactics.   :salute

Awesome, I've never flown a stunt plane but one day my wish will go true and I can finally get my chance to experience this myself.
