I've been following this kids story for awhile now, he actually has a facebook page about him calling him the real 21st century outlaw, I thought the story was made up the first time I heard about it, but then I saw an article on CNN.com about it, pretty talented kid, just to bad he used that talent for bad.

No formal training. yet he manages to Fly a plane to another country. And he walks away from his landings. Even if the plane is un usable afterwards. Any landing you can walk away fomr is a good one no?
Well, so much for not being able to learn how to fly an airplane by playing video games.

From what I read a week or so ago in an interview with his mother. His mom was pissed at him because he was only supposed to be flying twin engine planes.
Evidently she was afraid at what might happen if the engine failed.

Oh so it's ok for him to burglarize places, steal cars as well as planes as long as he can walk away from the destruction. Yeah no one got hurt at all, so it's all good.  :rolleyes:

BS! A thief is a thief even if he's a youngster. He knew that it was wrong and did it anyhow for the fun. I hope he gets LOTS of fun in prison for a very very long time.  :mad:

Not just any country, but a small island in the middle of the ocean.  Either navigating is way easier than advertised (thanks to GPS?), or the kid is a friggen genius, or both.  I'm also curious about the range of the plane he stole... would he have had the fuel to turn back?

As far as damaging the aircraft on landing goes, since he didn't want to get caught, he didn't land the plane in any place where people would see him, so no airports or roads.  Its no surprise then that he damaged them.

Certainly nothing I would advise or condone

On the other hand. The kid has more stones then a rock quarry. And I admit I was impressed with his abilities and was half pulling for him.

Yeah I agree with Dred on this, I was pulling for the kid too, the people he was burglarizing seemed to be quite wealthy individuals, and it's not like he was stealing irreplaceable family heirlooms here, and I'm sure the stuff he was stealing was insured so I'm sure they weren't out much either.  In times like this with the economy the way it is I don't think your gonna find many people crying for the guy who had his Mercedes and private plane stolen.  Like Dred said, the kid had some huge stones to pull off some of the stuff he did.     

Another thing, from what I understood about the guy was he was operating in the pacific NW up by Washington, so does anyone have a link to an article or something about him flying to the Bahamas?

Someone runs off and does this type thing..... it will incite others to try their hand. We have enough low lifes as it is. From what I have read his mom is a real loser too.

Like I said, it took a lot of balls for this kid to be able to pull off the stuff he did, I mean flying a plane after only having sim experience, and it's not like he was out there killing & raping people, if you ask me the kids story is pretty amazing, you have to respect some of the things he was able to pull off at his age & experience, he's not your average stupid burglar, & on occasion the kid even left cash donations to be used to help animals.  He did what he did and now he'll pay the price, I'm not saying that we should just give the kid a slap on the wrist, he did the crime & now he'll do the time.

Your fing Hero ripped off a friend of mine on Orcas Isl, this guy runs a small marina that is seasonal at best.He is just an average Joe trying to make a living ,with about 45% loss of tourists.We can all Marvell at what he did with the planes but, a crime is a crime.Just be thankful he did not move on to Identity theft

     Apparently you think only wealthy people pay insurance premiums?  And that's only the monetary end of it.  How
do you feel about thieves putting your friends and family in danger?
