My last rig. 22' of rolling death rigged for everything from crappie and gills to Great Lakes Salmon and Trout. I had a 120 Ev with a 15 HP kicker, two electrics one front one rear, had an Impulse LCD and two flashers, a LORAN "this before GPS", 4 Walker riggers "2 electric", and I had this slick device that would tell me water tempt and lure speed down at the riggers ball. It almost wasnt fair for the fish.
I was active in numerous Walleye, Salmon, Muskie clubs. I was one of the first to start using planer boards for trolling. I developed a method for using them at night, putting a chemical night stick in a drilled hole on top of them and trolling at night for big walleye on edges of cabbage beds. It seemed I was on the road all the time, going from one tournament or trip to another. I fished the northern tier quite a bit until I made a trip to Arkansas and from then on couldnt get enough of southern fishing.
Thing about the south is EVERYTHING gets big. The crappies get so big they dont even look like crappies. But Gills, Cats, Bass, smallies, stripers, wipers. You should have seen the looks on the Locals in their Bass boats when they saw this 22' V-Hull rolling by with 12 rods hanging off it trolling small plugs on boards for crappies. But we caught buckets of the things. The South is where its at.
